[He's in the way on your sidewalks...leaning against a wall, standing or sitting. The rich are having a great time in this decade but the poor? Not quite so much. And this is one of the worst sort of the poor. Wild eyed, maddened expression, hunched into a heavy grey overcoat and holding a pageboy cap in hands covered in ratty grey wool fingerless ( Read more... )

[Lucy has seen Harry before. In fact they've got a long standing relationship of sorts. Occasionally he thinks she's his dead wife and occasionally he saves her from muggers. Okay once he saved her and since then she's felt loyal to him. She stops by to check on him every other day or so and bring him some food. Today is one of those days. She's dressed to go out but she's got a bag with a cold sandwich in it and she's got a glass jar with some soup that's still warm in it. It takes her a little while to find him but when she does, she approaches him with a big smile]

Harry!

[She waves and then takes a deep breath, holds it to avoid the smell and then leans in to press a kiss to his cheek.]

How are you feeling?

[And she holds the soup and the paper bag out for him.]

[Lucy is the highlights of Harry's grey days. Yes, he does get a bit confused sometimes, about who she actually is, but she's nice to him, and he appreciates that. Not many people actually do pay attention to him.]

Lucy.

[He pats her arm gently when she kisses him.]

As well as can be expected, my dear. Yourself?

[The 'my dear' is a symptom of his upbringing rather than any confusion. He's mostly lucid today. He reaches out to take the jar and bag from her.]

Thank you.

I'm just ducky, Harry. Going out after this.

[And she twirls in a circle, making the fringed short dress she's wearing flare out about her thighs]

Swanky new dress and everything. Whaddya think?

[She smiles at him then takes up a spot leaning against the wall next to him. Lucy enjoys Harry's company even if he is a little crazy. Half the time she thinks she's crazy too so they sort of fit.]

You got somewhere to be tonight?

[It's more of her checking up on him than asking what his agenda for the evening is. She wants to make sure he's got a spot to go and get out of the cold.]

You look lovely, my dear, as usual. Smashing dress.

[His smile changes to a little bit of a hunted expression.]

Here. Anywhere. I'm not going back to the institute, you know that, I don't want to be restrained. [pause] I'll find an unused doorway or the like. Same as always.

[He's being polite, so he puts the sandwich away in his pocket. But he opens up the jar and starts to drink straight from it. trying not to slurp. Manners.]

[She beams at him, not minding his eating manners at all. There are places for manners. This isn't really one of them]

Oh Harry. I won't let them take you back there.

[Although she knows really, there's not much she could do but he breaks her heart. Sometimes she wonders what he was like before he was sent to the institute and if that place didn't make him worse. She wars with herself, as always on inviting him to stay with her. That's just not done though.]

[He takes a break from drinking the soup to smirk slightly and say] I appreciate your confidence. [He does, really, though. He just doesn't believe it too much, though. They'll find him someday, he's certain of it. They'll change their minds on releasing him and bring him back and tie him down.

He finishes off the soup, too hard to make it last, he's so hungry. Then he holds out the jar to Lucy, in case she wants it back.]

[Lucy sighs because he's right. Harry really is way too crazy for it not to happen one day. She waffles a bit, swinging back and forth between whether what she's about to say is a bad decision on a good one. In the end, Lucy is just too good hearted and besides, what does she care what the neighborhood says. It's not like they aren't talking anyway because she cuts her hair, shows her legs and goes out with men unchaperoned. She takes her shoe off, retrieves a key from where she's stashed it in the toe and holds it out to him]

You can stay at my place tonight. There's more soup in the fridge and leave the door unlocked 'cause I'll be home later.

[Harry looks down at the key, shoves the jar into his pocket, and looks up at Lucy.]

I couldn't possibly. Your reputation, my dear. It's a perfectly lovely gesture and one I really do appreciate but I couldn't.

[Harry is getting Lucy's 'bullshit' look. She rolls her eyes at him, still holding the key out.]

I wear short skirts, go out with men unchaperoned and cut my hair. They already think the worst of me, Harry. Besides you're nicer to me than most of the men I go out with and occasionally I take them home.

[Again, manners only go so far. Because he IS cold, and hungry and more soup in the fridge?!]

I should hope that the men you go out with aren't like me.

[He clenches his fists, and then takes the key from her.]

If I had any way to repay you, I would.

[ooc: Sidenote, apparently, your messenger account has one of those 'random messages' viruses.]

You don't have to repay me, Harry. You're my friend. I wish I had clean clothes for you but there's a robe hanging on the back of the bathroom door and you can wash the clothes in the sink if you like. And you can just put the jar in the kitchen.

[ooc: oi yeah. I'm sorry. I got hit with it the other day and thought I'd gotten rid of it. I'm trying again and if that's not it then I'm getting a new messenger.]

[He ducks his head briefly, tucking the key into his glove.]

Thank you, Lucy. You're too good.

[ooc: Nothing to be sorry about! I haven't even added you on AIM yet. It's just that I just explained to one of my friends that no, you weren't out to get them, it was a virus.]

Don't cha know, Harry? You're my good deed for the day. Every day. It's making up for all the bad things I will do.

[ooc: Oh lord no! I'm totally not a dick like that.AVG is currently scouring my computer for the thing.]
