I'm sitting here crying like a baby. I came home today and found "Babette", my little Madame Alexander doll in pieces on the living room floor. I know it's my fault. I should have put her in the china cabinet or at least high enough that Dax couldn't reach her. She was on a four tiered corner shelf that sits behind a large chair. I guess he got bored today.
When I was growing up the girl behind me had all these Madame Alexander dolls that her aunt bought her. I would stare at those dolls and wish they were mine. Sometimes when her mom wasn't home she let me take them out of the cabinet and hold them. I thought they were the most beautiful dolls. My mom and dad bought me barbies, walking dolls, little kiddles, etc. but I never had a Madame Alexander doll. One day, I guess about twenty-some years ago I went to the mall and Rices-Nachman's was having a sale. Everything was twenty percent off. I found "Babette". She was on display and had a broken shoe. The manager gave me another twenty dollars off for the shoe being damaged and not having a box for her. I got her for sixty-five dollars. I have dolls that cost more but she was always special to me. I know it's childish but Lindsay found one on e-bay that she wanted to buy me but I told her it wasn't the same. It's not my "Babette". God, I'm such an idiot.
Anyway, this is what "Babette" looked like before she was torn limb from limb. You know what is really getting at me? Her shoes are totally destroyed. I might can put her back together but she won't have her shoes (they were satin pumps with a rhinestone on the front)and I can't find the pink flower that goes on her dress. She also has some teeth marks on her forehead.
Anyway, here she is/was (not the actual doll just a pic of one like her):
