❦ Character Info
Name: Roxanne Ritchie
Movie/series: Megamind
Year/Position: Teacher
Non-Speaking Animal Companion(if any): n/a
Powers(if any): Roxanne is nosy by nature (reporter, hi!) - which means she's exceptionally amazing at rooting out information and making you tell your most embarrassing stories about you, yourself, your friends, and your momma.

Other than that, she's got nothin' |D

Canon history:

Heeeere

AU history: Caught up with Megamind and the death of Metro Man, Roxanne was, with the rest of the general population of Metro City, devastated at the loss of the beloved Hero. Evil ran rampant through the streets, stores were looted, valuable artifacts stolen from city museums, and vehicles used as impromptu and oversized-ammo. Garbage littered the streets, and people were quiet - afraid of what would be in store for them all in the upcoming weeks. Some moved - Roxanne had seen several U-Hauls carting people and their belongings out of the city while others had retreated and withdrawn into the presumed safety of their homes. Bank vaults were emptied, people's assets and savings gone.

Times were grim, indeed.

That's why Roxanne had, after delivering a heartfelt and emotional eulogy type newscast, decided to make a quick and quiet visit to the Metro Man museum. She didn't stay long - it was getting late and it was the after dark hours that seemed to be the most 'dangerous' these days. It wasn't just Megamind that was threatening the city, it seemed. Why she went, she wasn't sure. It had somehow seemed the proper thing to do, pay respect to the dead and ponder what would become of them, of her beloved city, of her.

She'd left in a solemn silence after a brief visit (unaware that Megamind himself was there as well, busily plotting the destruction of the museum), and had taken a cab home to find a letter taped to her front door (puzzling, since her doorman hadn't mentioned any visitors), and upon opening it she held within her hand a notice that she wasn't initially sure what to make of. Metro City was where she had grown up, where her heart was and her home. Could she leave it?

It had taken some consideration and a long time sitting on her couch and staring hard at the scrawled signature at the bottom before she'd gotten up and, without a word, began to pack her black and white polka-dotted suitcase full of clothing. If anything, the place could help her think of a way to stop Megamind, stop his diabolical ways and restore Metro City to its former beauty and glory.

Personality:

Roxanne is a fairly sarcastic and feisty type of woman. She has an extreme amount of courage and bravery, and when faced with various torture instruments and alligators, she doesn’t even bat an eye. She’s an individual that’s a mover and shaker and fearlessly forges ahead into new territory or dangerous situations. Roxanne is a bit of a force to be reckoned with, and displays a decent amount of curiosity and an insurmountable amount of energy. She doesn’t take things lying down, and when the fate of her City is on the brink of destruction, she takes matters into her own hands and fearlessly breaks into Megaminds lair, then heads directly into the hot zone when everyone else in the general area is fleeing.

She’s forthcoming and extremely direct - she’s a brutally honest individual that has no problem slipping in an added dose of sarcasm when she deems it necessary (which seems to be often when dealing with Megamind himself). She has no hidden agenda, unlike many, and puts the city and it’s people before herself, even when she knows deep down she has no superpowers to actually stop the destruction, or defend herself. She rushes headlong into situations without first thinking out the consequences, but it’s because she has others best interests at heart. She’s a confident type of person and has the innate resources to deal with new ideas and situations.

Exceptionally stubborn and hardheaded, Roxanne is an independent type of woman - she lives alone, has a career that she worked for, and in general takes care of herself. She’s loyal to her friends and those she cares about, and displays a certain amount of generosity and compassion throughout the film. She’s a little short-tempered and impulsive, but these aren’t necessarily negative traits so much as they are simply attributes that help define and shape her as a strong woman that doesn’t like taking no for an answer. She’s a go-getter and has no issue leading the way, and leaves an impression on nearly everyone she meets, be it positive or negative.

Greatest Fear: Being unable to help her beloved city. Roxanne's biggest fear would actually have been for what already happened - Megamind destroying Metro Man (even though no one ever expected that to happen), but as of right now, it's being helpless and useless and unable to save the city either herself, or by aiding someone else. The City is the most near and dear thing to her, and watching it crumble is heartbreaking.

What are your plans with this character?: Well, considering there's both a Megamind and a Metro Man Mark Trent, Roxanne would have at least two castmates to interact with off the bat. Considering there is a wide variety of people here and she's a social creature by nature, she'd meet a lot of people, make friends and it'd be a good opportunity for her to overcome a lot of prejudices she has against people like Megamind and over time, come to forgive him (and Metro Man, if she ever finds out he's a lying punk B|), and herself.

New and Improved~:

Principles of Journalism. Introduction to Media and Communications. Newspaper Editing. Class possibilities - they were endless. Roxanne hadn't expected to be presented with this sort of opportunity, but she has to admit that it wasn't unwelcome. She was still rolling the letter around in her mind as she sat at her desk, notes splattered out in front of her in a mess of papers, folders, and VHS tapes. The decrepit little CD player she kept adjacent to her current disarray of paper data was still merrily piping out some rendition and overly redone version of Yesterday that was beginning to grate on Roxanne's nerves. Where had that mix CD come from, anyway?

"Yesterday - all my troubles seemed so far away-
Now it looks as though they're here to stay-"

"Covered over three thousand times, once even by Liberace - ugh!" She slaps the power button and the boom box sputters quietly before falling silent. It was bad enough the thing was dying, but hearing a song like that at a time like this -

Just...no. It was incredibly bad timing to be listening to a song lamenting about times past.

Nails tapped against the desk in annoyance, but it mostly passes and she goes back to carefully arranging her notes, combining patterns and observations into something far easier for her to reference. It's hard, though - there's so many thoughts swirling in her mind and instead of coming up with ideas and foundations and theories, she finds herself idly doodling in the margins, pen pressing firmly against the page in an unconscious vengeance that the paper doesn't particularly deserve.

Finally, eventually - she drops the pen with a clatter against the desktop and she roughly stands up, shoving the desk chair back and ignoring the screech of protest it made.

"I need some air," she announced to no one in particular. With her proclamation, she dons her jacket and leaves the comfort of the room and heads outside, intent on gathering her thoughts and putting her mind back on track.
