Today Mrs. Swenor talked about the “left” and “right” minded people. Right, if I remember, was in a nutshell, the neat one. Even steven. Left was obviously the opposite. Right, scientific and mathematic, left, a writer, artistic. Examples? Right eats his/her food section by section, making sure that each section does not touch or mix. Left carelessly mixes. Right must have homework written in a certain place every day, a flawless system. Left will leave little scribbles everywhere, sticky notes, the back of their hand. Right starts the project right away, left procrastinates to the night before. Right, neatly packed lunch, left, the lunch ticket moocher. Me: a writer.. (reminisces of Shae forcing my hand with difficulty into the air as Mrs. Swenor asks, “Who here is a good writer? Or can talk and have these words just come flying out of your mouth?”). I eat my food section by section. I write my homework in a notebook everyday, then rewrite them on my hand if I’m worried I will forget. I start projects right away, then do them very slowly and lazily, but always finish on time. I buy lunch tickets, but then when I run out I go home for lunch for about a week before I remember to buy more. Hmm, everything seems to be relatively right minded except for the writer part. Hopefully I am not forcing something that I always thought flowed through me so easily. Sidenote: From an emily-from-last-year perspective, I was nearly all left minded. And where did such an apparently strong conversion come from?
