Roxas had just finished cleaning a table or two and vaulted over the counter instead of getting back there the correct way. He'd been doing it since day one anyway. Things hadn't quite been the same since Axel disappeared, but it couldn't be helped, he guessed.

XD I thought Carpet started helping out. Oh, and Nami helps sometimes, too, apparently

Xion laughs a little at the stunt. "Don't break your head open or anything!"

Roxas laughed. "I think if I was going to, it would have already happened. I've been doing it since I started here," he replied.

"Ohh, I see. So just because it hasn't happened yet means it's not ever gonna happen, huh?" She turns to fully face him, putting her hands on her hips and adopting a fake-stern look.

"I think if it were going to happen it would have already," he replied with a grin, noting how the pose was similar to one Kairi would pull.

Just then, the bells jingled as Axel opened the door. He stood near it and glanced around, not noticing Roxas behind the counter. It looked like some kind of restaurant. This really was like a regular town.

He scratched his head, glancing at a nearby table. It might not be a bad idea to try to get something to eat here and relax...

I see no fail~

"Welcome," Xion says automatically at the sound of the bells and the door closing. "Go ahead and have a seat," she continues as she turns, "I'll be ri--" Her words catch in her throat.

Axel.

The world falls out from under her feet and all she can do is stare.

Roxas notived how Xion trailed off an followed her gaze, eyes widening when he saw the redhead.

"A-Axel?!"

Unlike Xion, he wasn't afraid to call him by name.

Axel was about to reply to the waitress, though the expression on his face clearly questioned her strange reaction. However, when he heard his name he immediately looked toward Roxas. He seemed a bit surprised himself; he wasn't expecting to find him working here of all places.

He quickly put a grin on his face. "Oh. Hey, Roxas!"

Roxas quickly vaulted over the counter and ran over to him. "When did you get here, you dummy?" he said with a smile.

He grinned back at him. He hadn't been expecting to see him the day after his "death", or ever again from that matter, but from the sound of things Roxas had been here longer than that. "Just yesterday."

"And you didn't bother to make it known?" he asked, playfully punching him in the arm. Roxas was very glad Axel was back, though given how he didn't seem to react to Xion at all, it was probably a given that he was from after Roxas absorbed her.

Yesterday? So, wait, he...

"You just... got here?"

"Didn't know I had to," he replied to Roxas, elbowing him in response. "I've been busy since I got here."

He turned his attention to Xion, his smile fading to a curious frown. What was it about this girl...? "Uhh, yeah, I did."

"Jerk," Roxas replied, elbowing him as well.

He noticed the interaction, if one could call it that, between Xion and Axel and tried to decide if he should say anything. Well, it was worth a shot anyway. "Axel, this is my friend Xion. She works here with me," he said, rubbing the back of his head.

The look on Axel's face and Roxas's introduction... He really doesn't remember her. He really doesn't.

It's like a blow to the gut that she should've seen coming. She knew, she knew that everyone was going to forget her when she died, but everyone remembers her here and it's just -- It hurts, more than she thought it would. Especially after...

It's like he was so mad at me, he drove me out of his mind.

It's a stupid thought, one she knows doesn't make any sense at all. Axel doesn't, didn't, have a heart to be really mad at her with, and... and she forgot everything when she came back here, too. She knows better, but it doesn't stop the thought, and it doesn't stop it from hurting more.

She's glad that she wore a shirt she bought from Kefka now. It's purple, just like the way her uniform's supposed to be, but it's got a hood, too, because it gives her the comfort of knowing that she can retreat back into it when -- if it gets to be too much.

(As it is, all Axel sees suddenly is a hood, not that Xion's really aware of it.)
