008 [Voice]: Emergency Broadcast?

Oct 22, 2008 13:56

So it's a bit late to be asking this, maybe, but I was mucking about with this thing, and started wondering if it's got some sort of built-in emergency broadcast system. Something to make sure everyone hears a notice, like. It'd be a useful sort of thing to have, in case anything more happens.

You could have someone program one in--but you'd have to think of a creative way to get it into every single system so it would broadcast over the entire network when it went off. A simple virus-like program would do the trick.

I'm not quite an expert with this sort of thing. I mean, computers don't exactly burst into flames when I touch them, but something like that's a bit out of my range.

Well, that's usually when you find someone to do it for you...

That'd be why I was asking if there was one, before I went and saw about getting one set up. Be a bit foolish to waste anyone's time with that if someone'd already seen to it. I know there isn't any sort of backup, but that doesn't mean much.

I'm going to go out on a limb and guess you're one of the people who could do it.

I haven't heard of anything like that being set-up, but that might not mean much either. Then again, if there was supposed to be one... it certainly did no good this past emergency, now did it?

I am.

No. It wouldn't do, if no one knew about it, though. Besides, I can't think of much that would have done a lot of good there. Not without a lot more organization beforehand, instead of everyone running every which way. It seemed like we were all supposed to fail, no matter what.

Thought so. You sound like the type.

I'm Rose, by the way.

It would seem so.

'Sound like the type'? What 'type' is that exactly?

I've met your counterpart. More or less. We've talked on this thing. I also talk periodically with the Doctor. Nice to meet you though. I'm Tony Stark.

Techie. What else would it be?

Hello, then. It's a pleasure.

A couple other things. We'll ignore them for the one you used.

Pleasure's all mine, do--Miss Rose.
