Got back from the trip to Atlanta yesterday. It was fun being with everyone, although the bus rides were hell, I got no sleep whatsoever, and im so sick of fast food/mall food court food. But it was all good. So i'm just gonna give a little re-cap:
WED: We leave right after school. The buses were late so we were about an hour late getting on the road. The bus ride wasnt so bad, everyone was talking and everything and we had some movies to watch. The sophmores in the front kept to themselves, and it was us seniors in the back. Our bus driver, Bill, who we renamed Pedro was awesome. Although a bit swervy on the road...and he drove real slow, let me tell you. We stopped at the mall for dinner. But we arrived in Williamsburg, VA at about...330am. Late, ofcourse.
THURS: We get up at 515..yes thats 2 hours of sleep..and head to Atlanta. Long bus ride...ah. Stopped again at malls for lunch and dinner. Bah. And we bought more movies there to watch. But we made it, and checked into our hotel. The hotel was really nice, 25 floors. We got in late once again...about 100am ish or so.
FRI: Competition day. Woke up at 4 something for 515am breakfast..we were there at 7 to play at 730am. My solo was pretty good. I thought it could have sounded better but everyone else was like no, it was really good. So i'll take their word. lol. Wind Ensamble was really awesome. The best we've played, ever. The judges were alright and gave us some pointers and such. I listened to the choruses...they were really good too. Singing Saints did a selection from the musical Hairspray, and I liked it alot. The judge who critiqued them tho never said one positive thing to them. I wanted to be like wtf is your problem. Oh well. They were good. After that we headed to CNN for a tour. It was...interesting...ha. We were there when they were covering about the Pope. Jamie and I bought a book there- Flirting 101. We agreed its theories need to be tested. haha. We had to switch up our bus arrangements for the competition day, and we ended up on this annoying bus. With these really annoying people. And this one jerk ass kid kept playing his damn harmonica...and EVERYONE asked him to stop. At this point I had a massive headache. So I got up, went over to the kid and tried to rip it away from his mouth. Yup. Thats right. Everyone's face had a look of shock, seeing it wasnt something i would normally do, ya know. But I just couldnt take it anymore. lol. During that time at CNN tho, something awesome happened. We convinced our AMAZING chaperone that we REALLY wanted to go to Coyote Ugly. Just to see it and get T-shirts since we arent old enough to go inside it. Soooo..he asked Pedro if he would take us, and he agreed. :) So then the asked the music teachers about it- and they freakin agreed to let us go as long as we didnt say anything about it to anyone. So Lindsay "left her camera at CNN." haha. So it was my group (Me, Jamie, Kirstyn, Lindsay E, Ben, Katie, Kari, Lindsay B, Leah) our chaperone, and 4 bus drivers going to Coyote Ugly. lol. And we still got lost. Pedro would just go right out there into intersections and stop traffic. He had to lift the wheels to make a U-Turn. At one point we were in a "left only" lane. And needed to go right. So he says "well, it doesnt say you cant turn right" haha, love it. :) So we finally got there and they wouldnt let us in because we were under 21, so we were like in the doorway. But we got some t-shirts and got to see the place...which is just like the movie. Awesome. At this point we were late for the dressy awards banquet/dance thing. So we seriously got ready in like 10 minutes when we got back. The food was terrible. But we got Superior awards for everything except for one which got excellent...so we all did good. Although we then discovered that we were only being judged with like one other school. Ha. O well. So then they got a little dance thing going with a DJ. I DANCED people. Yes I did. Not well I may add- but hey, I did. Ben pulled me over and I was dancing with him at once point and he was kinda showing me what to do. lol. It was actually really fun. Busy busy day.
SAT: Woke up at little bit later, and headed to the Coca Cola Factory. It was kinda boring too...but it was interesting to be able to taste the different coke products from around the world. After that we went to Underground Atlanta. It was kinda ghetto, but it was still pretty cool. Wandered around there for a bit. Then we went to Six Flags. It had just opened up for the season recently, so not everything was open, but even if everything was- it still would have been the worst amusement park i've ever been to. lol. I hear that some of the rollercoasters were good tho- but I dont do rollercoasters..as of now...so I wouldnt know. lol. We were there the rest of the day, and I pretty much hung out with Katie, Kari and Leah because we were the non-coaster people. We ate shitty pizza for dinner that made me puke. That was joyous. But it was still cool nonetheless.
SUN: Woke up before the sun was up, got ready and left for home. Discovered that a man was murdered outside of our hotel that morning, really early. I guess some people heard shots/screams and some could see the dead body laying there. We could only see the ambulence lights from our room. Sunday was torture. The bus ride was SOOO LONG. We had movies and everything, but everyone was so sick of being around one another that they were getting annoyed. lol. We went up a different way that was suppose to be shorter, but it didnt help. Roads were iced over in PA so we had to go around. We had fast food all day. Bah. Katie bought this puppet Lamb Chop (from the old TV show) at the rest stop. Omg it was funny. Amusing to people who are sleep deprived. It was early AM and us seniors were talking in the back, because we couldnt sleep at the moment- and we got yelled at. some chaperone called us Asses! we were like um, excuse me? lol. I didnt sleep at all...for 26 hours. :/ We ended up getting to school at 730am. After everyone else was there already. Luckily the principal excused us for the day. So I went home and slept.
That was my Atlanta trip. Yup. Hope you enjoyed the craziness. :)
