Character History:
Ciel grew up with a loving mother and father in the home of the famous Phantomhive estate. Growing up, Ciel was often an adventurous child who was full of smiles and giggles the entire day long. Ciel spent most of his days with this cousin and fiancée Elizabeth Middleford, tea parties and luncheons were practically a tradition and his aunt, Madam Angelina would join in on many of the occasions. His days were carefree and full of fun and he studied with his father so he would one day learn how to be a proper Earl himself.
Up until the age of ten he was a charming young boy who was kind to everyone and always had a smile on his face, until the fire happened. Ciel was asleep in his bed when he was awaked by the smell of smoke filtering in from the mansion. Rushing down the stairs he saw his father sitting in his chair, surrounded by the flames, Ciel screamed for him by there was no response; it was then that he noticed his father’s hand was cut off from his body, the one where he wore the Phantomhive family ring. Turning, Ciel pushed back tears as he raced for his mother only to find Tanaka, the family butler looking for him.
Ciel was too young to have experienced such things but Tanaka knew the heir was in trouble should he remain in the mansion any longer. Picking him up, Tanaka ran out the back exit with the child in his arms and attempted to get to safety. A loud gunshot was heard and soon Ciel found himself falling towards the ground, tears covering his sight. Hands grabbed his hair roughly and voices were heard snickering in the flame’s reflection against the black night. Blindfolded and gagged, Ciel was taken to a dark cell where at least fifteen other boys lay, half starved and with many cuts and lacerations.
For two years Ciel sat in this hell as he was beaten and tortured for all the world to see, soon the children started disappearing, a few days at a time. Ciel stared helplessly as the men would open the gate and drag another boy out kicking and screaming. Eventually the screams stopped and Ciel could finally sleep, however it was only within a week and then it was his turn. Lead to a dark room, the clan circled a flat rock that looked of a round table. Chains were attached on either side as Ciel was clamped to them and forced to endure the last of his torture. Whips, spears, knives, and even more unspeakable acts were committed in that room that night as Ciel’s screams finally ceased after the two years of solid tortures. He was no longer easy to hurt, his feelings and emotions were severed from his body as he lay there and watch as each strike came yet he never winced.
Finally the leader screamed out in agony and grabbed the sword next to him, and not even Ciel anticipated the last words he would hear as the sword was plunged straight into his heart, “DIE DEMON BOY!” Ciel only glared and died with a smirk on his face. The darkness and his hated were so strong that it drew in another to his side, a demon with a bored streak. Ciel stared as the voice appeared from nowhere and spoke to him, striking a bargain, Ciel would sell his soul to the demon once his purpose was fulfilled. Anger, rage, and revenge flowed strong in the twelve year old boy as he shouted for the demon to shut up and grant the contract.
The demon took shape in the form of a butler and Ciel’s life was restored. The clan was destroyed by the mysterious man in black who later began known as Sebastian. Over the years Sebastian and Ciel made their intentions known to all his enemies and thus brought out some new ones. Soon goals were accomplished and hidden enemies began to show themselves. Ciel took extra caution and returned to his home, rebuilding it within a year. Leaving the hired help to Sebastian, Ciel did not question his butler’s picks…most of the time. Tanaka, however was glad to have his young master back and Elizabeth was equally thrilled to see him as well.
Yet Ciel’s personality and attitude changed drastically over the two years, no longer did the boy smile as he once did, in fact, he never smiled at all. Ciel’s revenge was the only thing on the twelve year old Earl’s mind and he was not going to fail. Along his road, many friends were met starting with his loyal servants, Maylene, Finny, and Bard, who served him in the Mansion. Maylene is Ciel's clumsy maid who is constantly getting herself in some accident around the mansion. Finny, the gardener, is a boy who obtained extreme strength. This is actually a huge set back in Ciel's opinion, since he's always breaking things at every turn.
Then there's Bard, the chef that seems to use flamethrowers rather than actual cooking utensils. Ciel's temper can get about as hot as the flames coming from the weapon that Bard prefers. Then there's Lau of course, Lau runs the Opium trade around London and is Ciel's eyes and ears for trouble in the underground of the city. His Mother's sister, Angelina Durlass, also accompanied him during his missions, despite his constant disagreement of her company. Madam Red made it a point to stay by his side and protect him, even if she failed to protect her sister and her husband. Yet, along with Madam Red came her useless butler, a man by the name of Greil. This butler caused more problems that Malyene, Finny, and Bard combined, always dropping plates and spilling tea, this butler was certainly more trouble than he was worth.
Of course along with Lau in the information department comes a man with a seriously demented form of humor, his name is the Undertaker. Ciel goes to him with information about those who have died since he works in the business of death as a man who buries those who have no family. The Undertaker adores humor and since his job is filled with morbid thoughts and sad moments, a little laugh goes a long way for him. Ciel uses this as payment for his information.
Along his missions as the Guard Dog for Queen of England, missions that Ciel's father worked also before him as the Queen’s guard dog,Ciel took the task of finding and disposing of Jack the Ripper. The system for the missions was whenever a letter was received with a mission, Ciel would take it and accomplish it to the best he could. this one particular mission was quite complicated as Ciel not only had to dress and act like a lady but wear a corset as well. Upon this mission he became a prize for a slave auction and discovered that the man originally pegged as Jack was nothing more than a rich man with little time on his hands.
Upon Sebastian's comment Ciel began to put the pieces together and rushed off for the next target. Waiting for Jack to come out of hiding, Ciel heard a long scream and realized he was too late, running towards the voice, Ciel opened his eyes to see blood spatter everywhere and Sebastian quickly covered his face and backed away from the scene to reveal a blood-soaked Greil. Confronting him with the facts, Greil, had no choice but to admit his crimes and soon his true formed showed, Greil was none other than a Shinigami, a God of Death. Ciel's outrage began to show when none other than Angelina Durlass, Madam Red, stepped out into the moonlight herself as well.
Admitting her part in the gruesome murders, Ciel glared as Sebastian and Greil began to battle to protect their partners. Blind by her anger and need for revenge, Madam Red wasn't going to let Ciel stand in her way, she charged at him with a blade and soon, Ciel was in a horrible position, but Sebastian was no better off. Sacrificing his arm, Sebastian leaned into Greil's scythe, that was of a red chainsaw, and attempted to take Madam Red's life but Ciel yelled to stop. There infront of him, was the crying face of Angelina Durlass, his Aunt. She dropped the knife and began to cry and beg that he forgive her, that her anger and jealousy got the best of her.
Greil however, wouldn't accept it, seeing her weakness, Greil proceeds to murder Madam Red in cold blood, exposing her love for Ciel's father and jealousy for her sister. Her entire history and feelings are exposed in that one moment and Ciel then understands the reasoning behind her murders and killings. Still angered at her Death, Ciel then commands Sebastian to capture Greil, yet just as he was about to kill him, another Shinigami stood in the way, who went by the name of William. Ciel heard him mutter about how he was the manager of the London District and Ciel stopped listening after that. Going towards his Aunt, now lying on the ground, Ceil understood just how alone he truly was.
Along the way, his missions became more difficult and advanced, meeting a maid named Angela, in a town that dogs seemed to be important, Ciel discovered that the demon dog was just a myth created by the Mayor to scare off any people who were not willing to listen to the law. He installed fear into the citizens to maintain his power. After exposing him, a new problem was discovered by the name of Pluto, who is truly the Demon Dog of Houndsworth.
Ciel started to warm up a bit into his normal self. Soon he came in contact with a Prince Soma and his loyal servant Agni who fought on par with with Sebastian! The pair went through another mission together and soon met up with Ash, the Queen's butler, soon disaster struck and Soma and Agni were on opposite ends, though not intentionally, the curry contest was coming up and someone requested, against his will, that Agni create the perfect curry for their company.
Agni's betrayal from Prince Soma left him alone and very scared. Ciel hardly had time since he was determined to help out Soma and order Sebastian to make the best curry in the contest. In which he did and in doing so freed Agni from his enslaved agreement with the man who forced him to betray Soma.
Though he would never admit getting close to anyone who interfered with his mission, Ciel and Sebastian remained quite close until the real threat was introduced. The Queen of England’s own butler was in charge of the whole Phantomhive assassination. He was surprised to find out that his own Queen was behind the murder of his family.
Revenge was within his grasp and just as he was beyond hope, Sebastian fought one on one with none other than Angela from Houndsworth as well as Ash, an angel in disguise. Soon, Sebastian’s true form was seen and yet Ciel closed his eyes so not to witness the massacre that was about to unfold before him. Hanging from the top of the London Bridge, Ciel attempted to hold on for ten seconds until Sebastian murdered the angel.
Extending his arm Sebastian waited for Ciel to grab hold but much to his surprise, Ciel merely smiled and let go. Plunging to his death into the Thames River below, Sebastian was willing to spare his life, however Ciel was content with his life and accepted death as he no longer had anything to live for.
Character Personality:
Ciel’s personality is broken up in to three extensive parts.
The Head of Phantomhive
Ciel takes pride in his role as the new Head of the Phantomhive Family and in doing so he has trained himself to think seven steps ahead of his enemies. Being in charge of the Phantomhive Toy Company, Ciel has prepared himself to stay ahead of the competition and make sure his enemies, who destroyed his family and his own life, know just who they’re dealing with. Becoming cold and distant to even those closest to him, Ciel is prepared to show his title and do things better than any of his fathers before him could.
The Vengeful Earl
To many outsiders, Ciel is seen as a cruel, cold, unapproachable child, who is heartless as well. This is the pure, honest truth. Ciel has lost all faith in trust and the reliance of others and he would just rather have you disposed of than listen to what you’re talking to him about. Ciel is extremely blunt and this is due to his experiences for the two years of torture and abuse. Ciel’s main goal, his only goal, in life is to make those who destroyed his family pay just as much as he did during the two year hell. Ciel does this but stays away from anyone so not to let his future end up in the wrong hands. Ciel will stop at nothing until those who destroyed his life, get the same treatment.
Under the Patch
Despite all of Ciel’s strength and pride, he has his moments where his weakness shows through in full power. Ciel is actually quite insecure with his plan of revenge and can be quite weak-hearted, particularly when his nightmares begin acting up. Ciel’s memories are his key weakness in his pain as he remembers his horrific moments the most during his sleep. Ciel fears that he will be unsuccessful in his goal of destroying all those who smeared and murdered his family, yet he struggles on, despite all those against him with one thought in mind. Who else has a demon butler?

[The video turns on revealing a boy laying on the ground almost sleeping peacefully. The boy stirs and sits up violently, letting out a piercing scream. Opening his good eye and comes in contact with the device, revealing a blue orb that encompassed his pupil.]
Ugh...W-where am I?
[He shakes his head.]
Sebastian?...Sebastian! Damn..why am I on the filthy streets like some common peasant?
[The device shifts revealing an eye patch on his right eye and the boy grips it gently so not to loosen it from its place.
Sebatian! This is an order, come to me at once!
[Standing up, the boy grabs what appears to be a cane and looks around impatiently.]
Tsk....Bastard. Making me wait for him when I have more important things to do.
[He notices the device and picks it up, examining it curiously and puts it into his pocket.]
I can't wait any longer.
[The device shuts off]
Third Person:
He felt ill for the first time in months. A cold shill ran down his back and suddenly he was face to face with his captors once again. They were all in a circle around him and he was lying naked on the cold stone tablet, chained to the corners. No...No it can't be...I killed you! You're all dead! His mind struggled to grip the scene before him and tried to rationally explain to himself that it wasn't real. He was doing well until the man came out with that deadly knife once more and Ciel's eyes widened in fear and shock. "NO...This isn't real! You're all dead! I KILLED YOU ALL!" The man ignored him and slowly raised the knife above Ciel's head. Eyes wide, Ciel screamed just as the man plunged the knife down.
Ciel awoke with scream of desperation and he shuddered against the cold night as he discovered he was no longer in the company of the occult who murdered him so long ago. His eye came in contact with a device to his left and he was curious to what it could hold for him but he still ignored it. Gripping his head, the bluish black hair fell in front of his face, "Ugh...W-where am I?" he whispered under the moonlight as he shook his head to clear the haunting images of his past. A thought crossed him and he looked around curiously at the area he was in.
"Sebastian?....Sebastian! Damn why am I on the filthy streets like a common peasant?" he muttered, brushing the collected dirt off his coat and hat. The road was eerily quiet for it being so late at night and Ciel instantly placed a hand towards his right eye to be sure that the patch was still covering his dark secret. Sighing in relief the boy gingerly placed his fingers on it and then took a deep breath.
"Sebastian! This is an order, come to me at once!" he lay there on the ground waiting for his loyal butler to appear and the wind was his only response at the moment. Growling, he clenched his teeth together and stood up, snatching his cane for balance. "Tsk, bastard. Making me wait for him when I have more important things to do." irritation floated through his young face as he scanned the scene. His eye caught the glimmer of the device that he landed next too and he bent low, picking it up and examining it for a moment before putting it into his pocket. Heading down the street, he rolled his eyes and began to find answers to where he was,
"I can't wait any longer."
