I'm in Scotland!
I've already seen castles and whisky distilleries and tried haggis (not as bad as I thought) and black pudding (also known as blood pudding, to give you an idea of what it is) and done lots of other things.
We had a two day homestay (we called them our "Scottish families") and I loved my family and didn't want to leave them. But they offered to let me come back whenever I need a break. And offered to do laundry for me (which normally I wouldn't accept, but it's 4 lbs. to wash and dry a load of laundry here - the equivalent of $8).
I have no clue what some of the people are saying, and discovered that many Scots have two accents: a posh accent they use with some people, and a native accent.
I want to visit the Highlands and Orkney Islands and Shetland Islands and I have no clue when I'll have time to do all of that AND visit continental Europe.
The weather has been surprisingly dry.
We hiked up a big hill one day called Bennaghee (I probably butchered the spelling; it's pronounced "Ben-ahee") and the person taking us around made it seem as though it were an easy hike. And it might not have been too hard, if there hadn't been packed snow covering the steps of the path. So I thought I'd slip every step. Then at the top, the wind felt strong enough to knock me off the hill. I slid back down as much as walked. But it was fun.
My flatmates are extremely international. One is Scottish (although she was born in Norway), one is South African, one is Finnish, one French, one Russian, and then there's one other American (from Seattle).
I've already gotten lost/confused/made a fool of myself numerous times.
That's all for now.
