Naruto: Wake Up [prologue]

Summary: Ino gives up on Sasuke, realizing she may never have him. And is surprisingly comforted by Naruto (who realized Sakura is a lost cause) But what happens to these woeful blondes, when the peoples of their affection finally open their eyes?
That’s it, she’d had it.
Enough was enough.
Sasuke Uchiha, in all his glory and beauty - could frankly go choke on a bad piece of turkey, for all she cared.
That’s right, she - Ino of the Yamanaka clan (said to be hopelessly obsessed with the last Uchiha) had in an indirect way suggested that Sasuke go fuck himself. (More liked wished it with all of her might.)
Really, it was only the rational decision to make - especially after waiting around for nine damned years for that prick to realize her affection for him.
And here she was, already a genin (soon to be chuunin) having suffered the long years at the academy trying to impress him - in countless way, that tired her teammates, her parents, and even her out.
But no more.
She’d given up, especially after Ino - who had been on her way to her family’s flower shop at the time had unexpectedly turned the corner to see her ex-best friend, one Haruno Sakura lip locked with the said man she now despised.
Had Ino lost? No, (she refused to call it a failure) it was more like a forfeit. When Ino realized, after waking up from her nearly decade slumber that the Uchiha simply wasn’t worth it.
Not worth loosing her best friend over, not the sleepless nights, not the shrine (which she quickly destroyed) in the back of her closet, and definitely not worth the heartache.
And just saying that to herself, was enough to relief all the tension that had gathered over the years. She felt so… free.
And damn it felt good.
“Sasuke Uchiha, you are hereby released of your duty as love of my life” stated Ino out loud with a wide grin. Who ever thought she’d say those words?
And surely today, would be marked down in history books (if they kept track of such a thing) as the day Ino Yamanaka became a single (non-Uchiha obsessed) woman.
