Remembrance Day

Nov 11, 2004 16:21

To commemorate this year's Remembrance Day i decided to write a song. As anticipated, the lyrics were the difficult part. I've attempted to reproduce the chords and melody under a cut tag for the musicians reading. I hope everyone takes a little time today to acknowledge those who have fought and died to protect us and our way of life, and all those who are still out their putting themselves in harm's way for our sake. Remember them.

For The Soldiers We Pray

For the soldiers we pray
On this Remembrance Day
For those who've come home
And those who must stay
For the memory of a world at war
Isn't hard to believe any more
We pray for their souls
And the victories in store

Lord, hear our prayer

GOD, grant them the peace of heart
To carry out their part
With honour and might
Either way they depart
GOD, rest them from all our fears
And may we share their tears
In gratitude and hope
Of no more sacrificed years

Lord, hear our prayer
Lord, hear our prayer

I really don't know how i would do standard notation in here and i really suck at that anyway, so i decided to just write out the melody and chords and some notes. If you actually feel like playing this song, feel free to be creative with it. I wrote it on a broken classical guitar with only the G, B, and high E strings. The song could be any style, really.
  • The song is in 3/4 timing, standard strumming pattern.
  • I indicate tempo with "O | | ", the "O" being the down beat.
  • For the melody, i indicate the next octave up from middle C with "+1".
