Is anyone else watching Breakout Kings on A&E? How much am I loving this show? As a Psych fan, I'm happy to see more of Merry, but beyond that I love the whole crazy mix of characters that make up the breakout team - especially Shea. It's like White Collar meets NCIS meets Prison Break.
Ray: Tilman shot a guy for insulting his wife.
Lloyd: For insulting his own wife or for insulting Tilman's wife?
Ray: Yeah, Tilman goes around killin' guys who insult their own wives.
Lloyd: That's weird.
Ray: Tilman's wife, idiot.
And on the subject of good television...
I've watched the Smallville episodes "Scion" and "Luthor" so far. I love Conner and that they brought him to the show and that the very pretty Lucas Grabeel portrays him (and well) - as I thought I would.
Clark Luthor is totally hot :D I enjoyed both episodes, but gee. The Lex-hating hypocrasy was thick; I found myself irritated after watching just these two episodes, and I remember why I stopped watching this show in the first place. It's pretty light on the deep thought and complex characterizations these days. My favorite bits of dialogue involved Lionel, though (with the sound turned off) both Luthor!world Clark and Ollie made for fine viewing ;)
Quotes from "Scion":
Clark: I won't let you hurt him like you did Lex. He was my closest friend and Lionel Luthor's influence destroyed him.
Lionel: You destroyed Lex with your secrets and lies.
---
Lois: Are you telling me that Conner is the genetic lovechild of Clark Kent and Lex Luthor?
Clark: You don't have to say it like that.
On a happier note, the White Collar season finale was amazing, wasn't it? I thought everything about the final scene (the rotating camera angles, the sound, the lighting, Neal's slow smile) worked together to paint the perfect portrait of a man seduced (or at least sorely tempted) in an almost Faustian way.
I felt that the Neal/Sara/Alex triangle was rather contrived, but I like how Sara handled the issue of what to do next, the "safe-cracking a sub" scene was awesomeness, and the utter ridiculousness of Adler's goons deciding to off them by providing a near-certain avenue of escape was offset by the loveliness of this scene:
Elizabeth: We're married, for better or for worse.
Sara: And now you have Neal.
Elizabeth: And, honestly? It's better.
I'll miss Adler. I just love the actor who plays him so much. I wish I knew how to use him in a fic. His comment about Neal being the closest thing he ever had to a son just gets my Muse all excited.
Finally, the latest episode of Chuck is the best I've seen in a while. I'm all torn up about the rift with Casey and I still need to see more between him and Chuck, but I felt like this ep had more of the twists and giggles that I expect from the show than other recent episodes have had. I'm looking forward to next week's super creepy ep, even if the idea of it may be the cookiest one they've had yet :p
