Summary: 'So, Clark. I take it you're enjoying your reward for saving my son's life?'
Near the close of the evening, talk turned to the day Lex had met Clark. “So, Clark,” began Lionel. “I take it you’re enjoying your reward for saving my son’s life?”
Inexplicably, Clark’s eyes went wide and his coq au vin became lodged somewhere in the middle of his esophagus.
Or. Perhaps it was not so inexplicable. Lex was torn between horror and inappropriate laughter as his father looked on in concern and Clark tried not to choke to death at his dinner table.
“Um. I- Yeah. I mean, yes, sir,” Clark said as soon as the hacking and gasping had stopped. He looked to Lex with panic in his eyes while Lex smiled reassuringly. “I’ve, um… really enjoyed…”
“The truck,” Lex supplied, not looking at his father.
“The truck!” Clark repeated, almost faint with relief. “The truck. Yes, I’m really enjoying the- the truck that Lex gave me. It’s nice, uh, a nice truck.” Even the tips of Clark’s ears had flushed pink, and Lex wondered if fainting wouldn’t be a mercy Clark could grant them all.
“Well. So long as you’re being responsible,” Lionel continued, “I’d hate for Jonathon to blame Lex should you take his gift on some wild ride to your death.”
Lex had always been more reckless than he was wise… which was saying something. “Oh, don’t worry, Dad. I’ve made a point of ensuring that all of Clark’s wild rides have been with me in the driver’s seat.”
Clark broke something - perhaps some piece of stemware - but Lex couldn't afford to glance at him in the interest of finding out for certain. He watched his father use his fork like a delicate spear and arch one brow instead. “That is hardly comforting,” Lionel drolled as both Luthors ignored Clark’s sputtered apologies.
Lex knew he was in for some fevered accusations once he had left to take Clark home, and - sure enough - they were hardly in the Porsche when Clark returned to sputtering.
“You didn’t tell your dad I gave you back the truck?” Clark asked immediately.
“I told him Jonathon took it away tonight because you’ve been speeding,” Lex smirked, shifting gears as Clark made sounds of protest. “You thought I’d told him I ended up giving you regular blowjobs instead?”
Lex spoke clearly, but beneath the hand Clark suddenly clamped over Lex’s mouth, his last three words came out muffled and indistinct.
“Lex. Don't-” Clark hissed, like he feared Lionel could hear them even here.
Lex had no such problem. He pulled the Porsche over on the side of the road, barely far enough down the drive to not be seen from the gate.
“Say it? I was planning on doing it,” he announced calmly, because that always excited Clark all the more.
Predictably, Clark’s eyes bugged and the powers of speech abandoned him.
“I…”
Lex licked his lips. “I’d say you deserve it. You managed to think about me blowing you without breaking more than one dish tonight.” Lex grinned. “That’s progress.”
[ end. ]
This is my first Clark/Lex... but I don't imagine it will be my last. I gave in, once and for all, and sat down and start watching the show. From episode 1. Lord help me. I know where it's all going to go, but the good old days were really damned good. So for now I am content. I haven't been around here much, enjoying the beginning of Summer break with my family, but I will try and check in with everyone and see how you're all doing soon :) And there may be a rec post - I have been doing a bit of reading when I've gotten the chance.
