(no subject)
Wow. I watched Prison Break tonight for the first time in a long time and I am so behind on the times :* I don't know much of what's going on, but I do know that the show is just as kick-ass as it ever was :D And it's still got that knack for churning out characters I love even when I know I probably shouldn't.
A sentiment Michael seems to share :D Man. I'm certain there's some backstory I'm missing that makes the dialogue in tonight's episode less impressive than it struck me... But taken out of context, the Whistler/Michael tonight? Frickin' killed me. OMG, seriously.
I was hooked after Whistler started with the I chose not killing you over the safety of my family stuff - in the dark about the entire fisherman vs. not-fisherman/Michael-killing issue. Hooked all the same. But when Whistler was in danger? And Michael was so frantic to save him? And then the dialogue, children - the dialogue when Sammy was in the room...
[as best I can remember it:]
Michael: Promise me you'll take Whistler with you.
Sammy: Oh, you're making demands now.
Michael: I understand why you have to kill me. But he's done nothing to you.
Michael's pleading for Whistler's life! And then Whistler does the same... While Michael refuses to tell Sammy too much about how the tunnel is constructed, insisting that Whistler can show him if Sammy lets him live.
Gah. Then Michael looks so distraught, later, when Whistler misunderstands why the cave-in occured (which actually struck me as more a Michael/Mahone moment, as Mahone understood what Michael had done and why he was upset). But when Lincoln tells Michael that Whistler can't be trusted, and Michael doesn't say anything either way...
I haven't squeed so enthusiastically over subtext in a long time! This was totally good stuff.
And then? Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles came on and I was like: 'Holy shit, is that Summer Glau?!' And it was! What an interesting show, what a pretty cast...
My overall comments:
1) I like the new Sarah Connor and I can so see me digging the femslash for this show the way I do for Smallville.
2) John Connor? Will be slashed in a nevfic eventually. It's bound to happen. He's too cute.
3) What is it with Summer playing the disturbed little sisters? :p Even fake ones. She does an awesome job at it though.
4) Poor Andy! That settles it - I'm never naming a child, dog or turtle Andy so long as I live. Bad things always happen to Andys. This one's just lucky Sarah didn't shoot him.
5) Awesome use of nightmare sequences and voice-overs. I am the destroyer of worlds. That was good.
6) They cast Dyson's wife well. She sounds very much like the wife in the last movie. And she has some good lines. You never die and you always want something. :D
I didn't need any Monday night viewing. I do household chores on Monday evenings. Damn it all to hell, but how am I supposed to choose dusting over prison-y subtext and pretty John Connor?
