well, what i was doing was more of an exploratory experiment on myself. i don't know what exactly you did when you were trying it, but you might find some frequencies under some circumstances have some short-term effect...
but really, the way they're used in programs like holosynch, the ultimate effect is meant to be very long-term and i guess it's subtle until suddenly it comes to the surface.
actually, the guy behind holosynch has written a short book -- i forget the name -- that imo is completely brilliant, going over fairly universal principles about how to change oneself and then relating it to the holosynch program.
so anyway, there's definitely some interesting stuff going on with binaural beats; but if you wanted to really look into that side of things, the effects are more long-term. on the plus side, if you've developed any regular sitting meditation, all you gotta do is slap on some headphones while you do it for a while, and holosynch (and similar programs) claim to act as a subtle supplement... so it wouldn't take up extra time on top of meditation.
