Luna walked slowly into the bar, deep in thought, while around her ankles gambolled ... a footstool? Pausing in mid-walk, she reached down to scratch between what passed for its ears, and a tassel on the footstool wagged appreciatively in the manner of puppies everywhere.
Adam didn't move at all but there was a feeling of swirling, conflicting power - intangible but strong - and then he shook his head. "That wasn't very nice, Luna. I jus' said it was a nice footstool..."

"Oh. You are a wizard as well, then? I couldn't quite tell." There was something a little off about Adam whenever she tried to read him (not that Luna would call it actively reading him - she just did it as a matter-of-fact), and she hadn't been able to see if Adam was indeed a wizard or not. Adam's friend - Brian - was definitely a Muggle, though, so she thought that she'd better not take chances.
"It's a nice footstool, isn't it?" said Luna. She bent down to lift it up in her arms. "Its name is Fido." There was a muffled sound, like a short bark coming from some distance away.
"He's not really a footstool - he's a dog. I just tried to Transfigure him into something that doesn't shed so much, but it doesn't seem to be working." Luna scratched the footstool between two corner tassles and the footstool went limp in her arms. "He seems to enjoy being a footstool, though, so I didn't change him back."
"I dun't think Dog would like bein' a footstool," said Adam thoughtfully. "He likes bein' a dog better'n what he was before, anyhow, an' it's not fair to keep changin' him around all the time."
"Nah, I left him back with my folks. There's too much stuff goin' on 'round here an' I don't want him gettin' hurt." Adam didn't even want to think about what people would do to his dog to get to him...
Adam watched quietly for a moment. "Say, uh, Luna. Do you make everybody forget if they see Fido? 'Cause it don't seem fair to me to make somethin' interestin' an' show him around if you're just gonna be upset when people notice..."
"Oh, not everybody. I don't make everybody forget. Just... people who don't understand, like Muggles, you know." Luna looked up. "Why are you worried, Adam?"
"Jus' seems like you're makin' people curious an' then punishin' 'em for bein' curious," he pointed out. "Don't seem very nice. Jus' 'cause they can't do magic don't mean you c'n do whatever you want to 'em. If you wanted to hide your magic stuff, maybe you should try harder so it's not their fault if they see somethin' you don't want 'em to see."
Luna looked at Adam. It couldn't be called a stare, but it was owl-like in intensity. "That's true, and generally we do. I just forget, sometimes, because I think that there's no point in dividing the world up. One of my teachers called me an idealist. Then sometimes, there are accidents. And also accidents that are not really accidents." Luna paused and thought for a moment. "I wouldn't really call it a punishment because they can't really miss what they don't know isn't there, can they?"
