Summary: He chooses to practice his virtues - as long as he stands beside her, it is enough.
Sometimes, Seyren Windsor likes to think that he is somewhat special in her eyes.
He nurses a small hope that his distinction is more than a friend and most frequent patient. But a heart like Margaretha Sorin’s has a room for everyone, and hoping for preference is too much.
Her smiles and gentle words are enough blessings.

“Seyren, your altruism is admirable, but please, try to take care of yourself more.”
He has lost count of how many times Margaretha has spoken those words. And every time, without fail, he would dutifully nod, mumble something awkward, and thank her concern.
Despite what others might say about his ‘heroics’, he does try listening to his survival instincts. Of course, all sense of self-preservation takes the backseat when the people around him are in danger.
In particular, his body seems to completely neglect its own welfare when Margaretha comes under threat.
He doesn’t mind. He considers it one of his virtues.

Being bedridden for several days isn’t particularly new to Seyren, but he has no great love for those idle moments. Not that he ever regrets being in the way of a vicious strike from Baphomet that was meant for Margaretha. If anything, he is proud of it.
Anything for her.
“Again and again, you save me,” she says softly, sadly. “I’ve lost count of how many times.”
“It’s my duty.” And he means it without condescension, just the quiet gratitude of being able to stay by her side. “As long as you’re safe, then it’s all right. At least, let me do this much.”
“Thank you.” Her words caress him the same way as her kind hands. “For being with me. Always.”
At that moment, Seyren Windsor considers, with a flickering hope, that perhaps distinction isn’t an impossibility after all.
