pillow firmly on my head
the sun it slowly rises
the leaves are now all dead

i put my hands around my ears
to drown out all the noise
sleepless nights and hopeless days
theyll give you it all and then theyll take it away

and hopeless days have come and took their toll
but i take solace in myself because its all i know
