*watches the Lorax review... wishes she had half of her life back*
...I loved the book AND that 1970's animated cartoon when I was young, but just those glimpses of the 3-D Lorax clips, just... Oh god... Just... what was that monstrosity just now?
On a serious note, that was a good review on not only THAT, but yes, on a lot of things they pointed out (Showing VS Telling, the mindlessness of the movie's presentation, etc..)

Actually, what I was trying to say, was that Fox News as a whole for me is basically just rants and opinions, and the way Fox News always present themselves in their handling of 'news,' is why I just cannot take them seriously.
Much as I agree that not only children's 'entertainment' is literally brainless nowadays (even anime too, sadly...), I just really found it a little surprising that they start ranting about an animated feature having some 'environmental agenda.'
It's just like, 'Really? Really? You've just only start realizing this NOW? This has been going on for a long time... especially with Ghibli films that Miyazaki Hayao wrote! And a lot of other environmental-themed cartoons like The (original) Lorax and Captain Planet!"

It also made me wonder, why did they target an anime, specifically that one? When I would have imagined they could have targeted other animated series that were more pronounced with specific 'agendas'? Or, if they were aiming at shows with environmental messages in them, and they were 'surprised' that this happened recently, and latched onto that? I question how much of reality they really are aware of, if they felt the need to do that.

Summary version: I don't take Fox News seriously as a 'news' source (then again, I don't watch or read any News much, except if it catches my interest), nor take them seriously in face value. I just found it very amusing that they would rant about Arrietty when they haven't seen it or probably even read the actual book itself.
(And, I have seen the movie itself in Japan: it just 'borrows' everything from the novel, but the setting is set in Japan with the characters being Japanese instead. Not a Hayao Miyazaki work, but an adapted Ghibli studio work like Tales of Earthsea.)

I'm not sure if this was the perspective you wanted to know, but this was my explanation about the (unclear) post I made, in regards to it.
And no, I don't mind. :) It's a quiet place here, so I don't get too many replies nor talk to too many people, since I'm just not good with huge communities of people (not to mention, my journal is pretty much mindless rants).
