For those of you with therapists/psychologists, how do you think you should go about finding one? It's a really personal choice. I'm limited by my HMO, and actually found one I like at a "free" clinic. I have my list of things that have to go well, and talk to them on the phone if possible, but also let them know that the first month or two of appointments are a trial period. If, during that trial period, something isn't working, I tell them, and see what can be done. If it can't be fixed or improved, I find another therapist.

I agree. You have to be comfortable with the doc, but you know this. My primary doc recommended a few people to me, but I haven't convinced myself that I need to go yet. Still, you can look them up online and see if there are any complaints that have been filed against them, how long they've been in practice, etc. The address is: http://www.webmd.thehealthpages.com/articles/docboard.html

Just pick your state, and go from there.

Good luck finding someone,
Amy
