wow i havent updated since may 1st.
okay well whats new.
i had an internship at a non-profit organization here in cincinnati last quarter. i worked part time and took a film studio class. i still havent uploaded my final project (approx 4 mins) to youtube because i havent been around a high speed ethernet cable connection.
this summer im taking a class, trying to find a part time job, and i think i have another internship lined up.
my best friend and her boyfriend are living in yellow springs, ohio (about an hour and a half north) this summer renovating a barn that is a couple hundred years old. the guy and his wife who own the barn and a new house on the property said they could live up there rent free while they worked on it.
my boyfriend and i went up to visit last week, and when they found out he was studying architecture they asked him to help design plans for a company they;re starting with a friend. the plan is to design and build affordable yet beautiful "green"/LEED modular homes. so the homes will be constructed of green materials, then transported to the site and assembled there. then later when they found out i was studying urban planning, they asked me to do the research for zoning/permitting/transport/etc.
i could go off on a super nerdy urban planning tangent here..but basically its a really awesome opportunity for both my boyfriend and i to get first hand, real world experience in our fields. sure i would be exposed to this sort of thing at an arch/urban planning firm..but in this case, i'm the person responsible for finding all of the information needed to get this up and running, and my boyfriend is in charge of the design. he'll be living up here this summer too because he's also helping with the barn renovation, and i'll be coming and going as needed.
its also so great because we wake up, walk upstairs, get a cup of coffee, plug in our laptops and get to work. when we need a break we can go in to town and get something to eat, or go swimming, or just lounge for a while then get back to work. its a complete live/work environment, and its so conducive to productivity. its 1:37 am and after we finished dinner and hanging out around midnight, we got out our laptops to work some more.
anyway, despite being totally broke at the moment, life is going really well. i am blissfully happy, im in love, i'm working on an awesome project, i have my graduation timeline set in stone. if this can count as a co-op, i will have all my co-op assignments complete so next school year i dont have to worry about finding any internships..i can focus soley on classes and my thesis.
