whats up everyone. im in switzerland at the most amazingly clean youth hostel ever. basically staying at this hostel is like living inside ikea, but without the sweedish meatballs in the cafeteria. im pretty into it, because the last place i stayed was in venice and the hostel was horrible. this place is like a palace in comparison.
im using internet for free, which rules, because a lot of hostels charge a few euro per hour so i never really get online. not getting online and not having tv or newspaper means im really out of touch with what is happening in the us and the world. i watched tv for the first time since my trip started last night, bbc.
swizerland is clean and nice and efficient, but at the same time boring. nothing is really open late here in basel where i am staying. thats a sharp contrast to italy where bars and clubs were open super late. i took a train from venice to switzerland through the alps and now i want a vacation home in switzerland in the mountains overlooking a lake.
italy was amazing and crazy but super dirty and smelly, for the most part. i went to the ER in venice due to killer mosquito bites. im in love with rome, but god its hot and it smells like pee everywhere.$ i went to the vatican and climed 500 steps to get to the top of st peters. i didnt see the pope. ive been inside like 20 churches in the past 2 weeks.
germany was cloudy and cool and clean just like switzerland. berlin was amaying, so much history and so much to do. dresden was breathtaking. frankfurt was super modern.$
germany and italy were both cheaper than i thought theyd be, considering the euro and dollar exchange. switz on the other hand is super expensive.
i fly to istanbul in about a day and im sure turkey is going to blow my mind. im kinda nervous, since there were bombings at markets there pretty recently...but mz school gave us clearance to go. unless something drastic takes place in turkey within the next 24 hours, ill be boardin a plane set for istanbul tomorrow night.
time difference here is 6 hours ahead of ohio. i dont get a chance to call much because rates are crazy expensive.
i miss people in the US, but i dont miss the US itself at all.
