SONG OF THE DAY - "A Magnificent Bird Will Rise"
(I will now attempt to accompany songs with images painted on my DS with the homebrew program "Colors". It's a great program! It's free (though you need a homebrew card for it) and it's like a full color sketchbook on your DS!)
This is the first Deerhoof song I had ever heard, off of their third album "Reveille". I believe at the time I loved the chaotic rockin beginning of the song, a veritable maelstrom of rock, but was not as into the cutesiness of the rest of the album. I don't think I minded it in the song. Now that Deerhoof's MO has been elucidated by their later catalog of work, this song seems alot more normal than I remember it being. Still, going back and hearing it for the first time in probably about 5 or more years... and imagining how it must have hit me years ago... it's a great amazing thing to experience.
