This song is important to me. It recalls a time (1997)when my friend Dave and I would sit around in my bedroom tirelessly recording covers and 2 minute impromptu pop songs on my old tape recorder. Piles and piles of audio cassettes. We must have covered this song a million times because we loved it so much. My friend Sam had just left for school in... Boston? The plan was to record a version of this song every week and mail it to him. We did ended up only sending him two. It was a weird beautiful sweet time and this is, to me, one of the more beautiful and sweet songs of that era of 90's indie pop. The album version was a more overtly produced affair with drums and a full band sound and it is the one I am more familiar to this. I found this on a music blog recently, this 7" version which is decidedly more lo-fi with just the singer and a guitar and some backing vocals. The way it sounds and the song itself make it one of the most transcendentally nostalgic things I've heard in a long time. A person in their bedroom recording intimate and important music for themselves. And the song is still beautiful. So here's the 7" version. Enjoy.
