i use the internet for looking up much stuff - and I read all about google & why they decided to create a second filtered search engine for China - at the time both were viewable - but one was very slow *uncensored one* & the other ran fast- seemed reasonable, not sure if China has figured out how to totally close the uncensored version of google

I'd argue that not using google does send a clear message, regardless of which google service. It means you are subject less to their advertising, which in turn may make less folks advertise with them.
Google's 411 is inferior to a free service that has existed for much longer free411.com
