they also had this cool bit where all these folks in 2 lines dressed in black did slow sword-like kata moves with blue water like swords - and they all had masks made out of platic bottles: creepy but very cool ... slow & quiet ( ... )

I liked them very much. My college also has a big old May Day tradition -- here are some photos from this year's. Maybe a bit heavy on the Morris Dancing photos, I suspect the photographer is a fan. The wearing of white and hoop races are very traditional; the people in togas are performing a play with the Greek and Classics department. Some years the president rides a horse instead of a golf cart. so nostalgic! there's a lot of close-harmony singing involved too, as I recall.

hee hee: Omg I loved him! He was like a wolf & his eyes blinked & everything. The kids thought he was cool. Actually, he stood up & howled to the moon I have photos of that too - I got a lot of good ones, considering I only had 24 images left on my camera when I arrived (oops) hee hee.

Maybe I'll post that howling for you: it's good. I like wolves, very much.

Great shots! Some of these scenes didn't come into the part of the parking lot where I was watching.

yay; glad you enjoyed them! =) There were some awesome new float/giant puppet creations, as there are every year!

The black crow of one year & the alice and wonderland teaparty are still quite memorable, this year I quite liked the wolf, the mermaid/water-nymph, and a number of the seas/water creatures.

I was particularly taken with the flying fish, since I saw them from the parking lot, where it looked like they were flying above the trees!
