his other superpower is being a dumbass

Watched Tiger & Bunny. I didn't know much about it going in so I was surprised by the US-ambient setting complete with ubiquitous background English. I was also surprised when my objectivity was shot to hell by the Hot Dad in the natty waistcoat. Strangely, this character is the protagonist.

Tiger is a superhero with mutant powers, but his city has a lot of superheroes with mutant powers and he's rather a has-been. Some stuff happens but basically the PSA of this show is that it's okay to be a loser because your younger blonder more popular superhero partner will love you anyhow. Possibly the creators even mean that in a platonic way. Fifty million screencaps later I can admit to myself that the show is kind of ridic but overall satisfies my inclination for a superhero narrative to the extent that I no longer feel vaguely obligated to see all the recent Avengers movies. I doubt I would have gotten as much leggy-oyaji-in-natty-waistcoat mileage out of those in any case.

Something I hadn't expected, based on my glimpses of fandom prior to actual viewing, was how super wholesome Tiger is. That's to say I thought there would be some canonical basis for his fanon memetic sex god status but I was wrong. Doesn't make passes, oblivious to crushes, devoted to his wife's memory - Kaede's daddy is no ho, that's for sure. In fact I have a hard time shipping him with anyone even in my head unless the wedding ring is addressed somehow. Barnaby a.k.a. Bunny a.k.a. Soulmate #2 doesn't get any special exemptions on this, either.

Other stuff: I have deep and abiding love for Tiger's family. Also Tiger's original hero suit, hahaha so retro I love it. Ditto for the domino mask.
