When I joined the
Honda Rider's Club of America, they sent me a package with the paperwork explaining the benefits, a sheet of coupons for discounts and rebates, (including a $75 rebate off the MSF Basic Rider Course, which made the membership pay for itself to start with, since I was already registered for one), and various things I could mail in.
Included were three postcards I could (and did) send in for various things that weren't even touted as part of the membership benefits*, one of which was for a
CruzToolsOutback-r folding tool set (M14 model), which looked handy. Just yesterday, I looked it up to see what it actually sold for ($19.95). I wondered what it cost to *make* them, and how much Honda paid for one.
It arrived today, and I have to say, the tool is darned *heavy* (9 oz) and it looks and feels solid. Not surprisingly, the one I got was private labeled for Honda; it's got red plastic instead of grey, with "HONDA Rider's Club of America" printed on the backside. That'll go into the travel toolkit for the bike.
* The postcard for the M14 tool said the offer to send it in expires 7/31/07, so this may not be a regular thing. The other cards were a "choose two of the four" out of a pin, patch, decal sheet set, or key fob with the Club logo, and one for a National Hotel Discount Directory. Each card said to allow 4-6 weeks for delivery; I mailed them on 6/17, so they're arriving on the early end!
