forget six degrees, try three

I overslept a bit today, but I suppose I'm allowed since it's the weekend. Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you look at it), my friend also overslept today and didn't call me to hit the gym until about noon. He promised his cousin he would go up to the mountain after and help them build some steps, and since I had nothing to do I said I'd help out too. It turns out we got up there a bit too late, but we still helped carry a few heavy things around. After, the three of us drove around back and walked up one of the mountains. It was relatively short, but still a pretty good view from the top. From there, we saw the not-so-well-shaped-from-this-side さぬき富士 that Joe often climbs for work. We agreed sometime that we'll have to go camping one saturday after work, and then climbed up another area really quickly so Toshi's cousin could show us a trap. It was really well hidden and I swear I wouldn't have noticed it if he hadn't pointed it out. Kinda scary actually and just proves I need to work on my perception skills...

He let me drive his car (an '89 Land Cruiser) back, and Toshi mentioned that he might be buying a new car and getting rid of that one. Of course he's been saiing he'd buy a new car for 2 years now, but if all goes well, I might end up with it for quite cheap. Still runs great, manual, 4WD, and diesel (which over here is still cheaper than regular gas). Who knows.

Oh yeah, he sent me home with some lemons off a tree they had, which I look forward to using, and an older woman who was there gave us each some dinner to take back. People are so kind here.

When we went for 焼き鳥 after, we were talking about GEOS and Toshi's cousin mentioned one of his students (he's a cram school teacher) went there. Turns out she's my student too on Saturdays at 5. Small world.

Not sure if anyone's doing anything tonight yet, and even though I have just about 100 entries yet to make in this journal, I'd rather not just sit around and do that all night. No offense, of course. Maybe I'll just hop on my bike and go somewhere. At this point I'd rather I had company, but whatever. Exploring is always interesting.
