A Declaration of Sustainability

The problems to be faced are vast and complex, but come down to this: 6.5 billion people are breeding exponentially. The process of fulfilling their wants and needs is stripping the earth of its biotic capacity to produce life; a climactic bust of consumption by a single species is overwhelming the skies, earth, waters, and fauna. Firstly Id like o say that I’m sorry for all the spelling and grammar errors that will be in this. My spell check isn’t working.

It makes me sad. I'm not as environmentally conscious as I should be. Just this week this guy at work was going off about how he dosen’t like some new technology that will replace making actual books. It’s some type of special ‘paper’ that can be used over and over again. You just plug it into whatever and..yeah that dosent’ matter. What I happened to say was that it sounds like it could be good for the environment a little because we wouldn’t have to distroy the rain forests and such to make books. It would also rid us of waste from memoes and such.

He goes off on a tangent and stated that they farm trees now so that isn’t even a problem anymore. Yeah, It pissed me off because he likes to think that he this ubersmart intellectual when that was the most idiotic thing I heard. After a forest is distroyed many things are extint. Replanting wont bring that back not to mention it takes severl years for those trees to actually be a forest...there is more but yeah. I need to be better about what I do myself. Thank you for the post!

What he said is factually incorrect. Tell him he should not talk about things he does not understand, and that, if he ever does gain an interest in the facts, simply reading the massive amout of research done on the subject will clear up whatever illusions he may have.
