In the Tower of Rem (... where he's actually standing for once. Dist is more or less never seen walking, but riding on his flying chair until up to this point), Dist expressed his desire to bring Gelda back, claiming that Jade would return to his old self once their mentor was back. Followed by a verbal argument, their quarrel ended after a final fight against Kaiser Dist. From the machine's failure and other complications, there was an explosion as Dist caused the place to self-destruct. He was believed to be dead, but he actually survived and, after a silly pursuit and releasing Gelda's replica - who was finally destroyed by Luke and the others, he was thrown into jail. At the end of the story, he's the only former God-General to be alive.
Personality: Dist does not only pine for attention, but needs it for the sake of living. He is extremely needy and childish, trapped so much in the past to the point he hasn't properly mentally aged ever since the incident involving Gelda. Like any average child, he pouts and throws a tantrum when ignored or proven wrong, especially in the situations where Jade is present. Although he has the mentality of a dependent child, he still retains his intelligence and is considered a genius amongst his peers and the people back at Keterburg.
He can be incredibly stubborn and persistent, tenacious by all means when it comes to what he wants. Everything about him actually revolves around Gelda, not so much Jade (if only for his desire to make the man revert to his 'old self' that he had followed around like a lost puppy), and that has made him ridiculously single-minded. His determination of sort is strange and warped to the point it would be difficult for anyone to fully comprehend it. It's easy to understand what he wants, but dealing with it is another story.
However, despite his one-tracked mind he expresses the need for attention, as mentioned earlier. He seems to have a softer side to himself in contrast to the silly exterior he often shows, as noted by his first encounter with Anise. He was kind enough to help her by tinkering with Tokunaga to make her an eligible member of the Order of Loreiei, which subsequently lead to her being entitled Ion's guardian. This was in return for her act of kindness by approaching him when he was lonely, showing that Dist is actually capable of reciprocating generous gestures. Evidently he's lonely - he just won't admit it. He chooses to cover up this vulnerability and accepts the fact that people refuse to socialize with him.
Dist's a genius and he knows it. He regularly flaunts his 'beauty' and intelligence, praising himself and looking down on others, going as far as calling them monkeys. Unfortunately, his insults tend to backfire and come hurling right back at him, making him a horrible offender. He's smart, yet his childish demeanor says otherwise. Mostly people wouldn't think he's incredibly smart at first glance. He's particularly good with machines (whereas Jade is his counterpart and is outstanding when it comes to theories) and hands-on activities. Nevertheless, Dist has an ego, and a very big one at that.
It's difficult to guilt trip him. He's wholly convinced that what he's doing is right and for the better, and this has clouded his judgment for the worse. Dist felt no remorse in leaving Mohs in his deplorable condition, and didn't care in the slightest when Ion died after reading the Score that would take his life after reciting it. All Dist cares about is bringing back his childhood that he lost when Gelda died. That may as well be the only thing he regrets, losing the life he loved and cherished so dearly.
Finally, it should be more than obvious that Dist has many loose screws in his head. He's not the healthiest individual to be around for his stunted mental growth and what could be called semi-insanity caused by obsession. Even after the death of the replica, it's evident that he would still pine for his lost mentor - he really cared for her, and she ended up dying a horrible death.
Immediate Possessions: His flying chair - he's practically permanently glued to it.
Deposited Possessions: Tarlow X, malfunctioned or not.
Sample Entry: (he'll miraculously have his chair with him. Somehow.)
I was taken from my cell, only to be abandoned in this miserable dump. This is clearly unacceptable! I, the beautiful Dist the Rose, should not have to be trapped in a place as disgusting as this. It's too dark and eerie! I demand an explanation - even the prison had much better standards than this.
... Fine. If no one will answer, I'll have to find a way out myself.
More importantly: is Jade here? Or any of his acquaintances for that matter? I need to have a word with them, if you will.
