Hey loves!
I, myself, have been living in this beautiful country for a few months already. I'm so in love. Not just with my boyfriend I moved to be with, but every day when I wake up and look out my window. Even though it's raining. ;)
So my friend, who has traveled quite extensively, is looking to see what the costs of moving here might be. Since I live in Amsterdam ON A BOAT, I'm not sure what apartment rent, etc is like. These are her questions and if you would kindly help me answer them for her I would be so grateful.
"How much does it cost on average to pay rent in Amsterdam? And do you have to have a job for a certain amount of time before being considered to rent? (In my apartment, you have to have a job for at least 6 months or they wont even consider renting to you).
What is the process to be able to work there? And how much money would you reccomend having saved before getting there?
I'd like to be able to set up some plan or timeline for myself to realistically move out there, what do you think? Possible?"
-Myself, I have a different kind of visa than the one she would consider so I don't know how to help her. I have shown her the IND website with the information.
-I assume she wants to live in Amsterdam Centraal (because it rules). I know it's much more expensive. What are the costs compared to, say Amstelveen, Westerpark, Bijlmer, places where she can still use the tram to get to Centraal (and me!) easily.
Dank je wel!
