Alright, I'm been super busy the past few weeks, and so I'm trying to catch up on things that have happened.
Wednesday Oct 28th, My parents and I (and Zoe!) started our drive up to Buffalo for my maternal grandma's 85th birthday...
My dad drove about half the day, and I drove the second half. We stopped just past Columbus OH for the night. Thursday morning we finished the drive and got to my grandma's house.
Between then and Saturday night, we also visited my Uncle Tom's house, and had the actual birthday party for my grandma at my aunt Marge's house. I got to see almost all my aunts, uncles, cousins, etc except Jess and Chris. Zoe got comfortable with all the family after a bit, though my cousin Sean's daughter Ireland (who is two months older) scared Zoe a lot. I think because Zoe hasn't been around other babies much.
Sunday we made the drive over to Syracuse to visit my dad's side of the family. Spent some time at my grandma's place. Then we headed over to my aunt Jean's house. My half-brother Stephen (who we determined I hadn't seen in 22 years) and his family showed up there as well. We all went out to dinner at a nice pub, and Zoe did really well there too. She had fun reading her books, or me reading them to her.
Monday we headed back to Buffalo and I visited my friend Tom who I hadn't seen since MGC (he wasn't able to make InDisFest) and we hung out and played video games most of the evening.
Tuesday morning we started our long drive back, with my dad and I splitting driving duties again. And we got home Wednesday afternoon. Then I promptly went out and bought DJ Hero and got Steph to come over and play, haha!
Such a great trip. Zoe did wonderfully, and everyone was so happy that I was able to actually bring her, since I hadn't been sure before. It was kinda sad having to drop her back off on Wednesday afternoon, after getting to spend so much time with her that week. But it was wonderful as usual catching up with all my relatives, and the addition of meeting my half brother again really reminded me how thankful I am to have such wonderful family, even the ones I don't get to see as often.
So it's possible I might make a trip up again next year for my cousin's wedding, but I'm not sure yet... lots and lots of things to consider before then...
