REALLY late piece for the Kataang week prompt "umbrella"
“What do you mean you lost our only umbrella?”
“Hey!” Sokka protested his sister's aggravation. “If we use Appa as a getaway enough times, we're bound to drop a supply or two! “Besides, I didn't lose it. It was Toph's turn to make sure the supplies were tied down.”
“Because asking the girl who has trouble seeing anything on top of Appa to make sure the supplies were tied down was a brilliant idea on your part,” Toph cut in.
“I know, wasn't i- Wait.” Sokka glared at Toph, forgetting she couldn't see him. Despite this, she could tell from his pulse his was upset by her comment, and she grinned mischievously in her chair as she balanced on two of its wooden legs.
Aang and Katara looked out the window of the inn they were staying at. Water poured down quickly, pounding the earth as if it was getting revenge for something. “The shop's across down, and it's late.” Katara commented to Aang. “We need to get the supplies today before the shop closes. We're heading out early tomorrow, right?”
“Right,” Aang replied, still watching the rain. He said no more for a moment, but Katara could tell he was thinking. The pause ended, and he turned to her with a smile on his face that she always found made her smile too.
“I've got an idea.”
-----
About twenty minutes later, Katara and Aang stood next to one another under the awning of the indoor marketplace. Each held some of the supplies between them, and their outer hands were both free.
They looked at one another, nodded, and stepped out.
Quickly, the duo began moving their free hands, and bent the water around themselves carefully. A wall of rain surrounded them on both sides, and some of the civilians took notice, watching them as they headed back towards the inn. When they got home, not a drop of water was on them or the bags. Sokka freed them a little, taking the bags when they got to the door. He'd already seen this tactic as they had left, and he'd gotten out his awe back then. Even so, the two grinned.
When they grinned, they completely forgot to keep bending, and the ceiling of water they had created crashed down on top of them. Sokka yelped, backing up with the supplies. The duo was soaked.
Oh well.
They simply laughed together.
