A quick commentary

I realize I have been seriously remiss in the posting entries department. >.< I'm sorry to those who haven't heard anything from me. We're actually doing quite well and have been very active. I'll try to post more often now.

In a sort of writing related bit of info, we should be getting our dnd game going soon. We're attempting to settle on a day when everyone can regularly meet... :-/ I guess we'll just end up seeing.

I _loved_ the book, the characters were as real and alive as ever, but I hated the epilogue. It felt so empty and it felt...cheap, like, "here's your happy ending!" (("Look! Look! It's all HAPPY! Even the orphaned werewolf/shapeshifter has a girlfriend, and she's part Veela!!")) Even though it didn't fit. I think a bittersweet ending that actually acknowledged the scars and sacrifices as well as the continuing lives and joys a lot more realistically would have been better. The epilogue felt more like a dream that Harry would have had once he finally got to his fourposter in Gryphendor tower. I was disappointed that the deaths were treated as a non-entity, it caused a real sense of surrealism for me and after the wonderful handling of Cedric's death I wasn't expecting them to not be handled. For me Fred's death was so shocking and I think it never really solidified in my head because we NEVER saw George's reaction. Even when describing everyone sitting around Fred's body, there was no description of George beyond, that he was sitting at Fred's head. And again it was a spot the epilogue didn't touch.

I really did love the body of the novel, however, it had everything I've come to expect from Jo.
