1. DRIP : GUSH

A. cry : laugh
B. curl : roll
C. stream : tributary
D. dent : destroy
E. bend : angle

I choose B, curl: roll, because a drip a much lesser degree of a gush, and a curl is a much lesser degree of a roll. I could also make an argument for dent: destroy, though - enough drips make something gushing, enough dents make something destroyed.
-------------------

2. WALK : LEGS

A. blink : eyes
B. chew : mouth
C. dress : hem
D. cover : book
E. grind : nose

B. Blink: eyes, most definitely. Use legs to walk, eyes to blink. I guess chew: mouth would have been okay, too?
-----------------

3. TOPAZ : YELLOW

A. diamond : carat
B. jeweler : clarity
C. sapphire : red
D. amethyst : purple
E. amber : blue

D. amethyst: purple is the only one that makes any sense to me.
-------------------

4. LUMEN : BRIGHTNESS

A. candle : light
B. density : darkness
C. nickel : metal
D. inches : length
E. color : hue

This one's actually kind of tough without looking up to see exactly what lumen means on its own. I'm leaning towards D. inches : length, though, in the hope that lumen is a measurement of brightness (i.e., luminosity).
-----------------------

5. MACERATION : LIQUID

A. sublimation : gas
B. evaporation : humidity
C. trail : path
D. erosion : weather
E. decision : distraction

Crap, I actually did have to look up maceration. Having looked it up, I choose D. erosion : weather.
---------------------------

6. CHRONOLOGICAL : TIME

A. virtual:truth
B. abnormal:value
C. marginal:knowledge
D. ordinal:place
E. coincidental:health

D. ordinal: place. Again, it's the only one that makes any sense to me.
-----------------------------

7. MASSIVE : BULK

A. ultimate:magnitude
B. trival:importance
C. anonymous:luster
D. interminable:legacy
E. gigantic:size

E. gigantic: size, they're both adjective : thing adjective describes. ...and having written that out, so are A. and B. :P

Also also, I think Eli's answers are better than mine. :P

And this is why the SATs are goofy. I never actually took them. Maceration is something I knew about because of wine making, for example. Do they expect people to memorize the dictionary?

Well, yeah. A big part of SAT prep has to do with memorizing root words, tricks to figure out what stuff means. That's why a lot of snootier schools include Latin as part of SAT prep.

You did pretty well. You missed 2 and Eli missed 1. I'll post the answers later.

Now I'm curious which one it was.

LOL no this was not from the test I took yesterday. Yesterday they gave me a grammer/spelling thing, a Typing Speed test!!! and a timed transcription...

These are from a practice test for the MAT but they also give these to people taking the GRE.

I HATE these because often 2 answers could be right.

Oh, okay. :P That makes much more sense.

How do you feel about the stuff yesterday, was it okay?

eh...

I think I did fine on the grammer part as it was pretty simple. The spelling I probably did alright on.

However as soon as they said I had 3 minutes to type 2 paragraphs as many times as possible my nerves kicked in and I did awful. My hands began to shake and everything. So I know I didn't do that well. I can type super fast now but not yesterday. Then for the transcription part I was so off that I mess that up to and couldn't spell anything right... *sigh*

I did tell them I normally do better and tha tI was super nervous. We talked a little about just the word "Test" freaks people out.

eh... What will be will be right?

blah

I'm hoping to get 3 recommendation letters to give them Monday. They said I could scan them and email them. So maybe that will make a difference. If not life goes on.

Really right now I'd be very happy if the sun would come out... *sigh* I'm tired of being cold on top of feeling down.

I know what you mean. :( It's hard to muster enthusiasm when everything is chilly and grey and damp.
