Today the most interested thing to read in newspaper was "Now you cannot slap your kids". A bill is going to be passed in legilature which amneds the present Child Law and forbids parents from slapping their kids. And for breaking this law he would be put behind the bars!!! AFAIK there is nothing mentioned about school teachers. And slapping a kid is a measurement taken when things are really out of hand. That is one of the ways (if others are not successful) in discipling the child.

I think that hitting is not the way to discipline a child. If you are aware enough of said child's activities, it should have been disciplined at a much earlier stage than to let it get to the point where you justify hitting.

If you hit a child, you are reinforcing the notion that *hitting* is acceptable. You would then have no right to admonish him for raising a hand on anybody else.

More often than not, a child is hit when the parent's frustration levels make them take the easy way out and smack the child instead of taking time to deal with it in a better fashion.

Just something I feel strongly about so spoke up. No offence meant to anyone.
