Foodz

And because this topic doesn't really belong in my other post, I'm making a new post.

You know, breastfeeding has made me consummately interested in food. It's 50% of what I think about, if not more.

Imagine waking up in the morning and being hungry. Not the "politely hungry" sort of hungry, where you can put it off and go take a shower and peruse the internet before needing food. This is ROARING, BELLOWING hunger that wakes you up, seizes you by the throat and demands that you eat NOW, and you must eat enough to feed an elephant.

And the thirst! You wake up from nursing the baby all night, and your body is in the same condition that it would be on the third day of wandering through a desert without water. Your mouth is dry, your tongue is shriveled, your throat is withered, and your stomach is curled in a prune-like little ball.

You stagger into the kitchen, fill a quart jar with water, and pour it down your throat. You may even have to refill the quart a time or two before you feel your body begin to un-wither, rather like how a wilted plant perks up when you water it.

Back to the food equation. I spend a lot of time on tasteofhome.com, looking at recipes and thinking about eating. And I just recently discovered the blogosphere, where people write whole articles, with pictures, about food. For instance, on the Pioneer Woman Cooks, Ree posted an article with this cake: http://thepioneerwoman.com/cooking/2008/12/make-this-cake-today-trust-me/

Oh. My. Gosh. It's like a Texas sheet cake with caramel!

I do hope that this obsession with food diminishes after I wean Holly. Otherwise I'll blimp up to 300 pounds with no end in sight.
