I realised that Acacia has a silk banner but Drakey doesn't. I think it would be nice for them to process into their invest as Baron and Baroness proceeded by flying banners. So I'm making Drakey one. Thank goodness he actually has an approved device - even if it's going to be painful to draw.
I have watched a number of YouTube videos on SCA silk banner painting so my steps are based on what I learnt from them. One series is by Isabella E (P1 =

1. I learnt a good shortcut from Acacia last year when she did a silk painting workshop run by Lady Elizabeth Hunter. I printed out his device on A0 size paper at Officeworks instead of drawing it freehand. (

2. I measured my silk fabric and cut it to a size close to the device size. Then hemmed 3 sides of it. The fourth side has a selvedge already on it. I'll enclose that in the pole sleeve at the end. Then handwashed it in a bucket of environmentally friendly detergent. Dried it from dripdry in front of the dryer which was running a load of my clothes through (it's overcast/spitting here today so couldn't hang it outside).
Next I'll iron the silk and tape it down on top of the printout. Tracing the outline of the ducks and dragon onto the silk using a pencil. I'll post some photos once I get to that stage.
