Wool Hoods

I've made a decision to enter the RiverHaven baronial A&S competition for this year.  It's in a couple of weeks time.  Am I mad??????

Entry details:
1. A woolen item. This can be anything from clothing, to accessories, to a hank of spun wool. The important thing is that you document what you have done, and can show a knowledge of what and why you have done.

I'm putting in my two wool hoods.  My interest in them is seeing how efficiently they can be made with as little fabric wastage as possible.  This is because the usual patterns you can find on the internet as a newbie I believe can be extremely wastage of fabric.  The first one was made a number of years ago but the second one was made in the last six months and actually was only finished a couple of weeks ago.  I'm interested in the reasons for the construction (shape, structure, fabric choice, etc).

The main part I've got to do is documenting my research and construction.  Luckily I had documented the first one here on this blog when I made it.  So I can pull stuff from there.  The only painful bit is that my original reference document has been removed and I didn't save a copy of it, so I'm going to have to go chasing for it.  I definitely want to reference it properly.

I'm still not 100% happy with either one of them.  But they're not bad for first attempts.  I'm going to keep refining my process in the future and see how it goes.

I'll post my documentation here after the competition.  I'm not expecting to win but it'll be an interesting experience.  I had planned on doing more A&S while on maternity leave.  Well that went out the window once Benny arrived - as most mothers would know.  :-)
