So the past couple of days have been really pimp. Yesterday Mom and I walked around downtown and ate a little Italian restaurant with a name that translates into "Hole in the Wall". I really like it. The prices are fairly reasonable, and they have a lot of good food there, I think. The atmosphere is nice and cozy, too. They have this nice pasta there with smoked salmon, asparagus, and cream sauce that I like a lot. Mmm. *_*
After that, we bought some crepes from a stand that's usually jammed packed with customers. Then we kinda walked around some more before going back to the hotel for a bit. The maids accidentally locked the bathroom door, so we were both kind of like jfksldjflsd 'cause we really had to use it, hahah. ;; But it was taken care, and then we walked by the river down to the Gion district, and we visited the Yasaka Shrine. We thought we saw a Maiko at one point, and my mom got all excited, it was cute.
That night we ate at a steak house that was located at the top of the hotel. The view was fabulous! It was kind of like a hibachi place, except the table ran through the length of the restaurant, and each set of guests more or less got their personal chef for the evening. We ate some beef and lobster, as well as some side things they prepared. Oh man. It was...amazing. The lobster was fresh and sweet, and the beef was really high quality. It was kind of awkward when they killed the lobster right in front of us, but the chef was really kind and patient in explaining how to go about eating everything. He also told me I had a beautiful smile. :3
Today was also pretty busy. We went to Kitano Tenmangu to see the plumb blossoms, just as
murasaki-kaze suggested we do. It was totally worth it. The air smelled really nice, and the scenery was really relaxing to gaze at. Afterwards, I had my mom try some takoyaki, and then we bought some Japanese sweets. The bus ride back was kind of crowded, and my mom was sort of going D: over it, especially once she stepped on someone's toe by accident, and the person was like >:( at her. But we made it back in one piece, and I got her to try a teriyaki burger at Mos Burger. *_* I think Mos Burger is way delicious. It's pricier than McDonald's, and the portions aren't as big, but I think the quality of the food is better.
After that, we went back to Gion and walked into a little hat shop we'd seen the other day, but couldn't go into 'cause it was closed. Well, there was an older woman and her mother sitting there. Unfortunately, I couldn't try on any skirts 'cause they were like...size zero. x.x;; The tunics there were really cute and fit fine, but the pricing was pretty steep. Ultimately, I decided on a cute, blue hat they had. As it turned out, the ladies running the shop come from a family of designers, and they showed us some magazine with some of their stuff in it. Most of the hats there were designed by them! It was way cool!
The store manager really took a liking to us, and showed us to her house, which was located in the back of the shop. She had a pretty little garden there, and told us she'd be displaying some dolls upstairs for the Hinamatsuri(doll festival). Then she gave my mom and I some lovely little fans with red and white designs on them! It was so kind of her! Then she gave me her number, and invited me to come visit her again in the future. x3 I'll definitely be taking her up on that offer, I think.
After that, we ate a buffet restaurant at the top of the hotel. Once again, the view was fabulous, and we got to eat a variety of foods, including a slice of roast beef with just, like, a tiny, tiny bit of mashed potatoes on the side. Man...I miss eating mashed potatoes. ;; I should make some sometime.
Right now we're pretty beat and are taking it easy for the rest of the night. We'll be checking out tomorrow afternoon and heading back to my dorm. Can't say I'm looking forward to sharing a dorm for a week, but I think we'll manage. xD
I'll probably post pictures soon. Too lazy/tired to do it now, buhhh.
