Where I talk about cartoons

Because I have absolutely no motivation to do anything remotely useful for either my future at university or at the job market (which is of course DYING to employ me) during my last week of spring break, I'll brighten your day with rantings about superhero cartoons from France and Japan.

Good idea for a funny adventurous trip with a super hero:

Iron Man: Armored Adventures (Edit: thanks, pinku_keks, for pointing out that I have no brain sometimes xD)

Equipped with what has to be the most psychedelic theme song ever that sounds like "Take on me" from a-ha, Iron Man: Amoured Adventures follows the journey of young Tony Stark who after loosing his father in a tragid accident tries to balance normal high school activities with his villain chasing actions as Iron Man, clad into the infamous red and gold armor.

Tony Stark and high school and mourning his daddy and being 16? I hear comic book fans all over the world cry in agony and the other half of the population is asking itself "Do we really need another Iron Man cartoon?"
The answer to both is yes!!!!!!! The show is funny, very well paced and although one could argue about the underrepresentation of women (yaddah, yaddah I just needed to mention it to calm my own mind xD) or the portrayal of Pepper Potts as Pinkie Pie in human form, the characters are very well rounded and everyone has issues to work out which are taken seriously at all times and the relationship between Tony and Rhodey is the bestest thing ever, really, I do not know how that intelligent boy manages to stay friends with the selfish brash Stark hellspawn sometimes since Rhodey obviously is the only one with a brain and the necessary coolness to carry through with making New York safe and sound again. It is brilliant and beautiful. One could argue about the animation style which looks kinda lifeless seeing how no clothes have wrinkles or anything but the voice acting is surpreme and especially during fight scenes the stlye looks awesome and neat!!! *_* The villains get actually back story this time (not sure how comic-accurate, I am so not up to date) which invests you much deeper emotionally than other shows and to see Tony grow and struggle with really heavy and important decisions (like if he should upgrade the amour with heavier weaponery) while at the same time not being burdened with his usual self confidence issues (the understatement of the year, but really, it is late and you get what I mean xD): this here is a happier Tony Stark who was loved deeply by his dad and can grow up much easier. Earth 875 perhaps? ;)
So if you have time (that is not consumed by crime shows, other cartoons, Grimm, actual RL stuff) give it a try? =D

Bad idea and this comes from someone who actually likes anime

Iron Man the Anime

Holy fucking shit, that was some crazy fucked up animated clusterfuck right there. Jeeez. o.o
The premise doesn't look too bad: Tony Stark comes to Japan, wants to build some energy plants there (free, easy accessible energy for Japan. Touchy subject after Fukushima but uh yeah this was released in 2010 so...) and plans to retire from being Iron Man (okay that looks bad actually...). Because he is Tony Stark he flirts with everything Japanese wearing a skirt but also tries to figure out how he can get the Japanese people to like him and tries the Stark approach at being humble.

This really doesn't sound so bad but the sadly the rest hurts the eye and the ears:
- the animation is cringeworthy, not bad because they really focus on the special features of every person but it just looks so... porny! Like a really bad yaoi-movie where everyone is shiny and glittery and oily.
- Tony's hair. He is wearing a mullet. AHHHHH"!
- the OBVIOUS STUPIDITY OF THAT ONE FEMALE CHARACTER OH MY GOD ANIME WHAT ARE YOU DOING WTF WTF WTF
- the fact that Tony and Pepper speak using the normal form (polite way of speaking usually reserved for teachers or strangers you just met) instead of the short form (buddy talk, family talk). I mean yes, yes, Pepper could be considered a work relative only strictly speaking but PLEASE! This is ridiculous especially since Tony was ready to jump to short form with that reporter girl in five seconds. KRGHS.
- the way they hammer in that Tony has no idea how to behave in Japan (while speaking perfect Japanese xDD) and how "BE HUMBLE" is the only thing to drive Japanese people. Uhm. Cliché much, Japanese animation studio? o.o
- the whole story telling is fucked up

Try it out, just to see how horribly trashy it is please. XDD

iron man, avengers, cartoon, tv
