So... I don't post very often, but believe it or not I still check LJ every day. Not sure why, but I guess it's just another way to know about people, and a little more in depth than Facebook.
I haven't updated because I haven't had the time, or haven't felt like I had a event worth discussing. But, it's been a few months, so I might as well give the rundown:
1. I passed all my classes YAY
1.5. Nashville flooded BIG TIME. Vanderbilt is fine, but huge parts of downtown as well as the Grand Ole Opry and Opryland are completely destroyed. Also the Symphony lost two Steinways and the organ console. Thousands of homes completely wrecked, including some of my professors'. For the sheer amount of devastation, the lack of national coverage is disheartening, but the residents are pulling together well. Still, with downtown and all of our major tourist attractions ruined, Nashville has no economic draw, thousands are out of jobs till their workplaces are rebuilt, which won't be for half a year at least... Nashville economy is fiiizzzucked.
2. I'm back in Fairfax now, for some, but not all of the summer.
3. I'M GOING TO PARIS AND AIX-EN-PROVENCE AND ROME THIS SUMMER FOR FREE FOR MUSIC INSTRUCTION FROM MEMBERS OF THE BERLIN PHILHARMONIC AND LONDON SYMPHONY ORCHESTRA AND A JOINT CONCERT WITH THE LSO
4. ^THAT^
5. I'm next year's Head DM, which is also pretty damn neat
6. My brother just graduated college a year early this weekend, also pretty damn neat (Fun Fact, I graduate on Friday the 13th next year!)
7. I've got a job working around the house tutor/babysitting/driving for this family with 4 homeschooled boys of various ages, two of which have hearing aids and one of which is some kind of serious but undiagnosed(according to parents) special needs child. It's not that many hours a week, but its $14/hr, which ends up being great for me. Money like full time, hours like part. I can't imagine why they're homeschooling 4 boys at once, but hey, who am I to argue with a job?
I need to get back in shape because I am really horribly out of it, and I was going to start my regimen today, but then it rained. The universe is against me.
The best part of being home and having free time is video games. Hands down. I played practically none during the school year, and I've got some serious catching up to do.
I am mostly free during afternoon and evening hours, so if you want to do something between now and June 25th, or after July 27th and before August 15th, do let me know.
