So, for those of you who have been calling/texting being like wtf where are you did you die what happened to staying in touch, I know, I suck. My life has been so freakish busy and hectic I can't even describe. But it's cool! I'm doing ok. I will try to call you folks back.
Tonight we played a concert that included Shostakovich's 5th symphony. The final movement of which, you may or may not recall, was the closer for my senior HS marching band show. Insert nostalgia this entire rotation. It was neat to actually get to play it though, fantastic piece.
Also, in one of the most hilarious moments of the past couple weeks, our conductor accidentally tossed his baton behind him when starting the 2nd movement. The orchestra and conductor held it together, but the string players had to hold in snickers and the wind players were grinning around their mouthpieces. Kept going though, and it was totally fine throughout the movement. He went and picked it up between movements. :P
This Halloween we have a home game and a marching show full of Halloween music! My tall skinny DM partner and I are going to be Jack Skellington and Sally. I have made my costume and it is neat! It is going to be freezing.
The amount of scrambling I have felt like I am doing this semester and the rather terrible lack of practicing has caused me to have thoughts of dropping my CS major down to a minor. I do not want to do this. I don't know if I feel that way for the right reasons though. I will probably get lower than a B+ for the first time this semester. I should probably not drop my CS major just because of that.
I'm pretty darn sure I want to go to gradschool in music. Admitting this makes me very self-conscious. I'm not sure why. Admitting this, I'm not sure why I'm super worried about dropping CS down to a minor. Except perhaps I don't want anyone to think I can't hack it (wrong reasons, anyone?).
The other day I was sitting in the engineering lobby with the boy and I got up to get a newspaper and left my backpack with him. When I came back I reached into my backpack for a pencil. My backpack suddenly had 6 JARS OF NUTELLA IN IT. The boy is sneaky and fantastic. :P
Oh also that flute that I wanted my parents to buy. THEY BOUGHT IT. IT ROCKS. YAY!
In the course of writing this journal entry I have eaten 4 lollipops. Success! Now to do homework.
