So, this is my first entry in English. Why is that so ? Just because I felt like it.
Today, everything started well. The work was boring, as usual, but I'm almost finished, so I don't care anymore.
Then, I had a wonderful lunch with my boyfriend, and got back to work. I finished early, and at 4.30 pm, I was on my way back. Except... my scooter died 100 meters away from my door.
Great.
You remember my last entries ? The ones about the garage, and my scooter being broken again ? Yeah, it has been fixed, in the meantime. When I write "fixed", I mean... i mean it was supposed to be fixed, but obviously, it wasn't.
So, the situation right now ?
The sweet people from the garage are on holidays. I don't know when they'll be back. And that goes certainly under the warranty. If it doesn't, then we are going to take them to court. I really mean it. I'm not just making fuss about that, this time. It has gone too far. There even is some evidence that what happened today was meant to happen. Right after I got the scooter back, it wasn't working properly anymore. And I couldn't do anything, because the people from this great garage were gone.
I'm working tomorrow in the lab, on Friday in the airport, as well as on Saturday, Sunday, Monday and Tuesday. Obviously, the chapter three from my book is going to be finished in no time. Yeah, that's 3 hours in the buses, everyday. Soooo cool.
For those who don't really know, the place where I live is like a primitive african village. A bus three times a day, no shops, nothing.
So, if I start work at 5, I have to take the bus at 3, and wait for 2 hours. I finish at 10pm ? No problem, there is a bus at 12.
Great thing.
I think Murphy is on me again. When I was finally back home, I decided to do stuff on my computer ( pdfing chapter two, for example ).
No way I could start it.
My. Computer. Was. Dead. RIP.
First choice : restarting the computer. It improved the things a bit. The error came later. But still. Everything was working perfectly, I even had eMule running nice and sweet, Kaspersky was launching, everything seemed normal, until the moment I wanted to click on the start button.
Stuck.
Restart.
Stuck.
Restart.
Safe Mode.
I erased some programs I suspected to be messing up with my configuration, and...
Restart.
Stuck.
Ok, fine.
I took the Windows XP Pro CD, and I intended to mend the starting configuration, but...
OMG.
"Windows cannot recognize your computer. Please choose among the following... "
Great.
Nothing close to that EVER happened to me before, and I have some experience with computers.
I took the CD out, and started to mess around with config, seeing what had been modified recently. I found two files. I took my other computer ( not my macintosh, obviously ) and copied those files, to compare them with the ones on ERIC III ( my computer ).
Nothing seemed unusual.
Restart.
Safe Mode.
Playing around with some programs, and deleting lots of stuff that I didn't use anyway.
Restart.
It's ALIVE !!!!
I don't know what happened. It's still extremely slow to launch, but it's working.
A complete formating would be the best solution, but I don't know why, I don't really feel like it right now.
Got a phone call from Lisa, this afternoon. She was going to the airport to take the plane... T__T Anyway, she made me promise I would visit her, and after all, Ireland is not so far away.
I hope everything will be fine for her...
Anyway. Got used to my clumsy English ? No ? Too bad, because the previous entry was my last public French entry. NesS's World is going international. :)
