I like the way her body bends in half....

Man, if she's playing hard to get, I'm out the door!

Ha!  Great, just great.

Anyway, down to business.  Got yelled at about my "performance" in front of all my coworkers and some customers the other day by the ADM.  How's that for discretion?  Shit is officially GOING DOWN at Firestone.  Our DM is undergoing a newly-found trial for perjury to the state of WI (right after his conveniently placed early retirement, that is), Walter is going to get a shit-ton of money for being "fired," and Matt might no longer be the golden boy of the district.  But, my time at Firestone is also coming to a close really soon, I hope.

Chris's connections at Noodles have been tried and true, and it looks like I'm going to talk to the DM, Eric, on Tuesday of this next week.  However, some bad news.  Looks like money's going to be really tight if I take this job.  That is, of course, if Eric can even get approval to pay me as much as I need.  I budgeted down to the essentials and left no room for fun stuff.  If it's only 6-12 months I think I can handle it.  But if it's going to be longer, it might not work.  There's only so many cheap places to live in Madison, and even if we move, the rate I would be getting is pretty low.  I have a few questions to talk with him about on Tuesday and hopefully I'll have more news then.

In the meantime, I've been thinking about "free" things to do rather than spend money.  Of course, we have a BUNCH of books, movies, and games to tide us over.  I'm not even concerned about that.  We've really been enjoying going to the terrace this summer, too.  Biking has been more frequent, and of course we're planning on exercising more regularly once we move, so with my Wii, that should be essentially free as well.

I guess we'll just have to be careful with "fun" spending and always buy cheap basic stuff when we need to.  Meh.  I've never had to budget so low before, but this might be a nice, new challenge for me.

Also, thinking this way has really made me appreciate anything that makes me less stressed, including the serious power of music.  It's so strange how certain songs make me feel about the situation.  I'll give some examples, see if you agree:
  • Lostprophets - "Rooftops" makes me think of rebellion.  It kinda makes me want to stand up and scream out during the chorus (as I'm sure it's made to!), just because it's so powerful.
  • Basement Jaxx - "Mere Pass" reminds me of a Bollywood club with thousands of strobe lights.  Whenever I hear this song while walking around I immediately start to power-walk with the music.  It's just unstoppable!
  • The Asteroids Galaxy Tour - "The Golden Age" let's me truly calm down.  It's similar to my Mates of State feelings -- I remember that it's all petty anyway, so why not just sing along?  This song always makes me smile and is really great when walking around when it's far too hot outside, the sun burning down on you.
  • A Perfect Circle - "Passive" helps me after I'm pissed from being at work for any length of time.  I just close my eyes, sing along and my anger is multiplied for the length of the song, and when it's over, I'm not mad anymore.  I have no idea why this happens.
  • Chris Brown - "Forever" makes me feel really happy and motivated.  And no, this is not from the video of the wedding with this song (although that video was pretty neat).  Also, it feels contradictory since Chris Brown is abusive, but hey.  Maybe in my mind I'm motivated to get away from him?  No idea.
  • Junkie XL - "Cities in Dust" makes me feel like a superhero.  When I'm driving and this comes on I make sure I look like a total badass, including sunglasses.  Hehehe....  :)
  • Panjabi MC - "Jogi" makes me forget everything I'm thinking about and I just flow with the music.  I get up, dance around crazily and can't be interrupted.  Once the singer comes in I also really feel like I'm wandering around a foreign country, discovering parts of the city by a rickety bike cab.
  • Iio - "Rapture" immediately makes me think of traveling around China by taxi at night.  Riding through the streets, slightly tipsy, watching all the colors float past in a blur.  Dancing the nights away in the clubs, drinking for incredibly cheap.  Every time I hear this song I want to go to China right away and I get this incredible urge to break away from my current life as I know it.
  • Mates of State - "Great Dane" makes me think of the end of every Heroes episode.  I literally have no clue why.  I think it has something to do with the strange horns in the background of the song, but I can't really be sure.  Something about the tune they play throughout the song reminds me of the intro?  Or maybe the outtro?  *shrug*
  • Zero 7 - "Channel 1 Suite" reminds me of a murder mystery novel.  A calculating, solving sort of puzzle-scheme thing.  I can imagine a huge climax at the end, too, where the murder is solved but it's not exactly what anyone expected.
  • Zero 7 - "Christine Bonilla" makes me think of the scene at the end of The Island where the two main characters are living out their lives on the ridiculously beautiful boat, sunrays beating down on white fabric and that incessant hot feeling.  Calming, but optimistic.
  • Bonobo - "Dinosaurs" is an indie film, filled with strange characters trying to complete strange tasks, perhaps something against the law?  Nothing like robbing a bank, though, something very petty.  Also, a love affair that's never quite fulfilled.
I also notice that in nearly EVERY song I have a favorite part.  It's not the chorus, or a particular phrase, but rather a very tiny part of the song.  A key change, a shouted word, I don't know.  Does anyone else have this too?
