Home for the Holidays

Dec 26, 2008 23:51

Lots has happened these past few days/weeks?  I had a phone interview with Robert W. Baird (investment banking based out of Milwaukee, obviously they have tons of offices in China, right after I agreed to work for Firestone post-graduation), I received all my final grades from classes (all AB's!!) and yes, kids, I graduated from college.

We received the "proofs" in the mail today, plus I got an e-mail I have yet to show my parents.  Pictures were alright, but I'm waiting for Chris's dad's pictures to show up, they have more peoples in them!!

I received a few cards and some money for graduation/Christmas.  I have to send thank-yous to the following:

-Grandma B
-Aunt Yvonne & Uncle Bob
-Uncle Greg and Aunt Debbie
-Aunt Ellen

(That was mostly for me, so I can remember who all I got money from.)

For Christmas I actually received a lot of loot.  My parents splurged on Season 4 of Lost, Season 7 of Scrubs as well as Animal Crossing for the Wii.  Excited!  They also got me 3 pairs of shoes (boots, casual and a pair of the cutest heels) as well as some clothes.  I'm most excited about my million pairs of socks, which I sorely need.  Also got a bug sucker (a tiny vacuum-like object), a gag gift (which I will definitely bestow on my roomies soon) as well as some weirdo candy canes (cinnamon?  are you kidding?).

Ooh, I just got slightly distracted by Facebook and some ex-boyfriend's relationship statuses.  Very amusing...honestly.  Sometimes I wonder why I dated the people I did.  And this is interesting, because I know my friends sometimes wonder that, too.  :)

Anywho, so we celebrated Chris's 21st birthday as well as Seth's.  Exciting!  I had a pretty good time, and I only cried on Chris's because I was afraid he was going to throw up on me.  For the record, he didn't.  We had a good night.

We went out to eat 4 times in a row over these 2 days and (I think) had a good time with that, too.  It's nice to be taken out to a meal.

Watched Religulous with Chris.  Later shared it with my parents.  Also watched The Happening today.  Not so good.  At least not in comparison with any of M. Night's others.  He needs to get back to the basics, really.

Gah.  So I thought I wanted to write a serious entry, and it turns out I'm just a tad bit too tired to go over all that's happened these past few weeks.  I'll go over a short list for the coming year/coming weeks:

-Find out my hours this Sunday (I'll asume 10-5)
-Move everything from Chris's room to mine (in prep for Victoria moving home!)
-Put together my special gift for Chris
-Write thank you's to people for gifts
-Get Firestone insurance paperwork taken care of
-Reschedule dentist appointment
-Determine final New Year's plans
-Finish Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys and begin another book
-Load another new DS game onto my DS and play to my heart's content!
-Load the last Sims 2 stuff pack and begin my awesome town
-Get membership to health club/exercise place (Anytime Fitness, perhaps?)
-Tell Jason my final travel dates for visiting Chris (April 4 - 14)
-Purchase airline ticket for the spring

Yeah...short?

I'm very excited for the coming year.  I'm going to try and be as positive as I can be with everything that's going on and truly understand how much opportunity I'll be given in the coming year to really become an adult.  I'm going to begin working full-time with a well-established company making excellent wages.  I'm going to try and get as many hours as I can, work as hard as I can, and learn as much as I can, just in case I decide to work for them long-term.

While Chris is away I plan on exercising more often, learning to cook a few dishes to more easily feed him and I when he returns, and reading and playing video games to entertain myself.  This will be the last time I have to really discover who I am and the things I like to do, all by myself.  I'll continually learn things about myself as I grow, but this will be the last time I'll live by myself (in one room), really.  I also need to consider him, though, and must find him an internship by the time he returns home!

In April I get to visit him in England, where we'll travel to Bristol and London, as well as spend 3 days in Paris.  This will be an awesome trip (I finally get to see Europe!), and I'll be very welcome for the opportunity to see Chris after a few months.

When he returns in June we'll go to his brother's high school graduation, begin thinking about the new apartment, and, before long, start packing!  We're moving into the new place in mid-August, and he starts classes for the fall shortly thereafter.  I'm as excited for this as I'm sure he is, for various reasons.  I'll be very happy to be starting a more stable life with him, and it will be awesome to have Victoria and Alex nearby.  I'm going to continue to learn to cook and hopefully plan some family meals where his brother and potentially his brother's girlfriend can join us for dinner, too.

Before too long it will be our 2 year anniversary and the upcoming holiday season.  Although this is hectic on its own, since Chris will be graduating in May, this means he needs to start interviewing before Christmas, which means I'll have to follow suit.  Before long I'm going to be thinking about potentially obtaining a new job, or possibly making a change with the one I already have.  This can mean any number of companies, including some of my favorites like Nintendo!

So really I'm looking forward to the next year for all the changes it's going to bring.  In every aspect of my life, something will be changing.  I really can't say anything else besides this: I'm ready for it.  All of it.  Every little bit.

Now let's just see what I say in March, eh?  :)
