So much has been happening over the past few weeks. Gah. Where to begin?
First off, today I found another great song. Took me a while, though, since apparently I cannot hear lyrics very well. Rihanna's "Disturbia" is yet another truly awesome dance hit.
Been working so much lately I kinda broke down yesterday. Working paired with future worries and moving in chaos and lack of sleep can really get to a person. Have to admit I'm a bit sad to be leaving my solitary apartment for the simple fact that I have complete control over every THING in here. I know that I won't have that freedom next year, and it's a little scary. But I know everything will work out wonderfully; it will be nice to not be lonely really often, too.
Disappointed since I recently discovered that my season 1 of Mushishi dvd (disc 1 only) doesn't work. Well, it works, but the English subtitles don't. Until I can understand spoken Japanese, this will be a problem. Thank goodness it's only disc 1, though, honestly. Made for a sad night, though. :(
On the upside, while browsing at Barnes & Noble the other day I came across quite possibly the most amazing thing ever. Honey and Clover manga. On the shelf. IN ENGLISH. I nearly shit myself. What's even better: only #2 was on the shelf. I thought last minute to ask the woman at the nearby customer service desk if they also had #1. She looked at me for a moment, blinked, then shuffled through the other books on her shelf, eventually arriving upon the coveted manga. AMAZING.
I'm currently in the process of trying to clean off my computer of unnecessary items, such as anime. So much easier to simply purchase the boxed sets sometimes, especially when they're under $20 on clearance online. Thinking about getting season 1 of Honey and Clover (finally!), School Rumble and perhaps Trinity Blood? Trinity Blood is intense, though, and very pricey (very long series). Instead, I think Chris and I might collaborate and purchase an external hard drive soon and throw the excess on there. With the amount of crap I have sitting on my pc, I feel like I might almost need an entire hard drive for myself. Blech.
I think I may need to spend some quality time at Kinko's soon, too. Otherwise I'll be needing about 30 ink cartridges. First, all the sheet music I've been compiling over the ages is needing to get wiped off the pc. The easiest way? Print it off, throw it in a binder, right? Yeah. Ink. Damn. Apparently Kinko's does USB-drive files, though, so this might be more easily taken care of than I originally thought.
Second, I've recently gotten really interested in both origami and papercraft models. Has anyone ever done a papercraft model before? My dad and I got one from a Scholastic order form years ago (remember those???) and made it; it was this incredible medieval castle. My mom unfortunately crushed it with her mighty cleaning tools a couple years later, however, so it has not survived today. While doing some searching online I came across many GameWorks models primarily for tabletop RPG's, some basic models, as well as a Howl's Moving Castle and Firefly model (of the mighty Serenity herself). All of these downloads (most available at Demonoid.com) will have to be sorted as well, since there are a bunch of models I don't really want (like engine parts? WTF.)
On the work front: I was offered a full-time job from Firestone. Scott and Gary promise me all this stuff for future possibilities, blah blah blah. As much as I want to believe them (I really do!), I see the things they did to Walter (you know, break his contract, fire him, then demote him down when he really wasn't doing very poorly in the first place) and get scared about my real future with the company. We'll see. For a few years post-graduation? Maybe. We'll try a few others (perhaps more stable?) first. They need to know by January 1st.
SOOOOO excited for next semester to start. Not really sure why, perhaps because I'm FREAKING GRADUATING?!?!?! Yeah, that might be it. :)
Some fun classes lined up: Japanese first semester, a high-level consumer science class (consumer behavior I think?), marketing 300 and a history of India class. Have textbooks for the first 3 so far, hopefully the last one soon (though I'm assuming it to have quite a few books). Quite a full schedule, though I'm making time to work at GameStop every other Sunday and during the week a bit (if they need me), plus Firestone every other Sunday. Football games on Saturday (I got tickets! Woo!), hopefully homework will get done during the week.
Currently I need to finish all my internship crap in the next week here. EVERYTHING is due on the 15th (7 assignments and counting). Meaning: This next week is going to be UTTER HELL. I work tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday, then have off Wednesday and Thursday (to move into the new place), and work Friday and Saturday. I plan on doing at least a couple small things tonight, then hopefully finishing up tomorrow night and Monday after work. If I'm still working on stuff Tuesday, you can pretty much assume I'll be fucked.
Next week is my last week of work, and the week after is my first official week off of the entire summer. I plan on properly organizing and moving all of my things into the room then, as well as take a much needed vacay on the 26th, mine and Chris's 1 year anniversary. Door County, we think so far, but we still need to check on reservations. Plus, my car is acting up lately (another $200 bill and talk of inner tie rod ends frozen, outer tie rod ends incorrectly placed on the vehicle and my alignment being off SO FAR, I probably shouldn't be driving it around right now), so here's to hoping that this little trip we have planned actually takes place. :)
In other news, I'm super excited for the upcoming semester since I'll have time to watch online television again! I never finished The Mole (though, is it done yet? apparently not?), and The Hills premieres next week, with all the ABC and NBC stuff not far behind. Also super excited about new seasons of Lost, The Office, and Heroes. Mmm....television isn't so bad after all. Also, the ever-reliable Eli Stone, America's Next Top Model and Project Runway (already underway, apparently) are always pretty good.
Finally, another great find: NGamer, a magazine devoted to Nintendo-ey goodness straight outta Britain is proving to be INCREDIBLE. Considering getting a subscription, but with the current exchange rate, a £55 is pretty hefty: $108. At the current rate of $10.33 per magazine (with the GameStop discount at Barnes & Noble), it isn't too much more expensive to just purchase it here. Maybe once I'm more permanently settled I'll consider it.
Oh, and one more thing before I go, if you haven't already checked out
Girl Talk, please do it. Immediately. He even shares my same last name. Seriously? This is just too much happiness for one moment.
