I buy from Amazon quite frequently, and most of the time from the individual sellers. Over the last few years I've probably bought over a hundred items, and with one prior exception (which was resolved quickly and painlessly) I've never had any problems--at least not on Amazon's end. Trying to get my Post Office to actually leave items at my house is another matter. The deals are good because I don't mind if my books and movies are used so long as they're functional, and sometimes the deals are awesome, and best of all, Amazon guarantees what you buy. I haven't needed to file claims for a breach of that faith before now.
Nov 2nd - I order the complete Star Trek: Deep Space Nine on DVD for my birthday. I get a shipping email almost immediately, which confused me a little, since it was pretty late on a Friday night when I placed the order, so how can it be shipped already? I shrug it off.
Nov 10th - I email the seller (username Sears610 - AVOID THIS ASSHOLE AT ALL COSTS), asking when/from where it was shipped so I have an idea when to look for it.
Nov 13th - Not having received a response, I ask again, just in case the first email got lost. I'm starting to get concerned.
Nov 20th - The seller's account has two new feedbacks, both of them indicating poor/nonexistent communication from the seller and extremely long delivery periods, with one person indicating that the seller lied about when it was sent. I email the seller again, my tone moving from polite to a little more firm.
Nov 26th - Now I've lost my temper. I'm tired of waiting and tired of no answer from someone who professes to "providing each customer with the highest standard of customer service." I make one more attempt to get some answers and let him know that I will be filing a claim for my money back if he doesn't feel like he can bother responding to me. Once again, silence.
Nov 27th - There are now two more 1/5 rated feedbacks on the account with the same story as mine; no answers, no merchandise, invalid and useless tracking number. I add mine to the list, adding that even if my DVDs arrive I will never be using this seller again. No response from the seller, no DVDs.
Dec 1st - so now it's been 30 days and I have nothing to show for my two hundred dollars, an amount I can ill afford to have just disappear with nothing to show for it. As of now, Amazon has taken my claim and they have emailed the seller--a move which has me sitting here thinking "Ten bucks says they'll get no friggin' answer from this jerk either." I can fully accept that something might have happened to this person, but the sales keep going through and my money was sure taken promptly, so my ability to be generous at this point is rather strained.
And the kicker is that when I get my refund, the other sets of DS9 out there are more money, so I'll have to shell out more for something that should have been in my hands weeks ago.
Amazon has not lost this customer, but I will be VERY careful who I buy from in the future. This one, I realize, smells too much like "scammer" to me.
