The Bridge

Hear the chorus sing a dirge
Sounding out the golden years
Into darkness they will fade
The radiance of their fading breath
Not to cross the bridge again
Into rivers they will pass
And death shall give them life again
In the woodlands made of stone
In the trees their image fades
Across the sky their comets fall
Like tyrants dancing under swords
Their severed crowns collect the dust

As we behold the death of the fire
A crimson eve burns overhead
The brilliant lights betray our eyes
To the darkness here inside
All across the empire dead
The pulse of life cuts through the heart
And bloody conflict tears the flesh
On every level going down
See the hand reveal its claw
Casting stones up to the stars
Out of desolation rise
Into chaos break the fall
